Forgotten Memories from another time, just the places that I've been before, couple magnets, recipes and polaroid's, yeah but that's my life on the refrigerator door.
Tales of The Truthteller: #004
Starring Tex 'Texaco' Attwater, Uknown NPC #2, and Scout
Body bruised and hurting, it did not feel like anything out of the ordinary but the healing process somehow made it seem a little more than it should as Tex once again rolled himself, as large as he was out of bed. The truth was that he could not tell you how many days had passed since he had actually last remembered to count the days but that was okay as he blinked and took the time to allow his eyes to adjust as the sour taste of morning breath dipped among his mouth. "Not ideal," he said as he wiped his mouth and regretted it as he made his way into the bathroom. Today was the day that he had been longing for, today Tex was going to be reunined with Scout! One could not tell it from how he was taking his sweet time to get proper but he had missed the hell out of that horse.
This was the longest that him and Scout had ever been away but that came with the territory. Tex just felt almost as if Scout would feel abandoned and he did not need that. He was also aware that he took his horse's feelings into consideration too much but it was the holiday season. He loved it and he was so grateful when the colors of red and green and various others began to be shown that he flat out refused to go riding around and looking without at the very least bringing Scout with him.
He brushed his teeth and decided to clean up and be proper as he made his way out. It was a good bit to where Scout had been hopefully kept well while he had been away which meant that Tex had to..get into the car with a stranger. It was still such a sight to see how so much more things were accessible in this day and age rather than the past but he waited and got in. As he rode he relaxed and thought about the previous match that he had been in. It still felt strange to have won but it also made him just slightly more confident. It was still a few weeks before he would wrestle again but Tex did not mind that as he always came prepared for combat. He heard the driver speak after a while and mention that they had arrived. He graciously tipped the driver and thanked him. "Thank you kindly," he said as his hand went up for the motion to tip his hat and he shook it away. "Sorry force of habit," he said as he finally exited.
He went to go forward when he watched the first few specks of the white ice fall and he smiled. "Snow," he said. Tex Attwater loved snow for there was something so angelic about it and pure as he looked around. The small cabin that was otherwise out of sight came into view as an older man stuck his head out and shouted. "She's in the barn, but I would be careful if I were you. I do not think that she was a fan of you leaving her alone for such a long while." Wow, way to guilt Tex, but none the less he made his way out towards the barn. He slowly opened the door and peered his head in.
"Hey Scout," he said gently still at this moment giving himself plenty of distance from the horse as he rubbed his hands together. "Needless to say I fell off the wagon a little bit after my match but I came as soon as I could," he said as he put his hands out and watched Scout's actions because he did not want to get kicked. When she did not move an inch but sneered at him he felt that entirely and he sighed. "Hey do not take that tone with me, you knew the deal besides once twenty twenty three comes around, I will be wrestling for the both of us. It is going to be such an experience and I will not fall off the wagon as much and then we will both be famous." Scout neighed a little bit and Tex stepped closer.
"It's not as bad as I thought, this lifetime. Still a bit different but I have already met so many others and seen things that would otherwise make someone else a bit scared but all it did was inspire me. Plus beating others up and having people cheer for you, ain't half bad," he said as he turned and nuzzled his horse. It was his comfort space and it, he could never lie to Scout. "Don't be so upset with me, it's time to go out and see the lights and watch the old slowly brush itself out and welcome in the new."
He gave a gentle tug once again but moving towards the outside now as Scout followed beside him. The flakes of snow slowly began to fall just a little heavier covering Scout and Tex as they walked carefully. "I got to be honest though, the memories are flooding back Scout." It was the only thing about those pesky little multiple lifetimes. Sometimes other ones began to leak through in a way. "All the good ones and none of the bad ones which already makes this better than the last time you and I experienced this." He sounded happy about that but it was lined with a small line of fear too. "It not going to change us though, we have combat of some sort to get ready for, well after we play in the snow that is."
They say that there is a thin line between a tale of truth and a well fabricated belief of a truth so much so that sometimes the two start to blend together and one can never tell where one ends and the other begins. They also say that to decipher which is which one has to pay attention because the pieces like the snow, the purest of the ones that are indeed true will begin to pull themselves apart and shine. Until next time, my dear Over yonders do be aware of the difference.
