"Ethan, congratulations.
I mean thar seriously. You went out there and proved yourself. You showed me that you TRULY are at one with the shrine. That you are everything that you claimed to be, and you straight up won our match. You went out there and were the better man on the night. Nobody can and should ever takw that away from you.
In fact, you have piqued my interest further in you. In making sure that you are truly able to cement yourself in the annuls of history. Within the fountain of purity as one who ascended to the throne. Who became the true barer of light within this realm. And as such, I believe it is something that WE can fulfill, together. Yes, Ethan, your ears are not decieving you. They are not telling you lies. I am sincerely offering you the opportunity to align yourself with me. To have somebody alongside you as you continue along your quest of purifying the industry. A quest that has been my own this entire time."
I pause, as it becomes clear that I am positioned atop a palpit, standing within what appears to be some sort of church. In reality, it is the studio I have used in the past --- only this time turned into a psuedo church or sorts in order to send this message.
"You see, that is all I wanted from you, Ethan. To show me that you weren't merely USING the message to try and enhance your own goals. Attempt to sully the purity on which we stand, but that you LIVE it. You truly and honestly DO bleed for this sport. And you showed me exactly that when we stepped into the ring. So, I would like to make a proposal to you."
I pause, exhaling as I look out at the empty crowd. A gentle smirk across my face.
"I'm willing to offer you the chance to ascend. To reach the pinnacle --- or the summit as some might very well put it, of this industry. A vechile to ensure that not only will your name be enshrined within the sand of time, but you WILL be able to truly say that you reached the summit and that you did it upon the cause that you have claimed."
I once again pause, this time to simulate awaiting a response. Even if Ethan isn't physically here at this time. I then smile, chuckling slightly.
"You do not have to answer right now. Think about it. Weigh up your options, but you know where to find me when you do have an answer. For deep down, I know that this is what you desire. That this is what shall enable you to take that next step and secure your name within the shrine."
I then calmly begin to walk off the miniture stage set up, but stop myself. Ethan is NOT the only thing I wish to discuss here. No. I have ANOTHER thing I wish to enagage in conversation with. One that isn't as lighthearted or with as much goodwill as I have for the man who overcame me at Mayhem.
"But that is not the only reason I stand here today --- oh no. There is something, or rather, SOMEONE else who I wish to engage with. A man who finds himself with my sights laser focused on. That being the man who currently holds the TV championship, Liam Cain. A man who seems to be in union with the boss, doing his bidding and being a lapdog of sorts."
Shrugging, I can't help but roll my eyes.
"Hey, if that's how he wishes to be known, then I can't stop him. After all, he isn't the first to take that route and he sure as f*ck won't be the last to do so, either. Yet what he either chooses not to, or flat out doesn't seem to understand, is that it simply ISN'T as sure fire a means to success as he may assume it is. That even though it may be coming up roses for him now, there WILL come a time where he has to pay the piper and find that all that had gotten him to this status. That everything that he had ultilised in order to reach the position he has now, can just as easily be stripped away from him."
I do a mock 'pulling the rug' type of gesture to empthaise this. Give him a visual to go along with the mental image that has likely formulated within his mind.
"And for your sake, Liam, I hope that payment isn't required when we have to step into the ring at the VERY aptly named Red Alert. Because to you, that is what I represent. A red alert that at any given moment. That just as frequent as the clock ticks away, I can take that belt and leave you with NOTHING. That I can easily become the catalyst for you losing the comfort you have had and left in the doldrums. Trapped within the mire, alone and with nobody there to hear your screams. No shelter from the waves that shall crash into your body."
I then allow my famed half-smirk to show itself.
"An act that I will be all too glad to set into motion. Don't worry though, this is merely the first salvo I have for you. There is plenty more in the chamber and for you, that is more dangerous than you could ever know."
I then mockingly wave.
"But for now, adios."
Finally walking away from the palpit, I allow those words to linger in the air. Hopefully embed themselves into his mind. ---
November 25th, 2021. 11:00 am.
Bianca- Hey babe --- Bec called earlier.
Bianca looks at me, as we sit atop a bench within the local park. Having decided to get out and about for a change, instead of simply staying at home. Plus, a little bit of fresh air never hurt anyone.
"Oh? About the deal, I'm assuming?"
She simply nods, affirming it as I exhale.
"They still working on it?"
Bianca nods again, this time making sure to look deep into my eyes, knowing that this deal has been in the works for the past 5 months now. Though very little progress has been made in terms of the DVDs actually hitting the shelves. If I had known it would take them this long, I would have found somewhere else to handle the production.
Bianca- Yeah. However, she said that they told her that they should be out in time for Christmas.
I slightly laugh. They should have been out by now.
"Let's see if they keep their word this time. You know what they've been like. Would have been easier to do it from VRAC if I'm being totally honest."
She notices the frustration etched within my words and gently places her hand atop my own. Trying to calm me down.
Bianca- I know. I'm sure they will though, as these things do take time and with the whole pandemic, things have been slower than normal everywhere.
I sigh, knowing that I have to concede that point to her. The pandemic has taken its toll on these sorts of things, which is part of the reason I have been more accepting of the delays than I would have been otherwise. I know how it has impact business all too way.
"I guess so."
Bianca- Plus, at least we have the memoirs coming out next week.
"Yeah."
I had completely forgotten about those memoirs, though as soon as she remarked that, it clicked. Those are due to be released next Wednesday as planned, and as promoted during the interview I did with Kristy. In fact, that was one of the primary reasons we even did that interview in the first place.
Bianca- Also, Kelsey flies in on Sunday as well.
I smile, having confirmed that with Alyce last night when I rang her.
"Yeah. I'll finish setting up the studio for her tomorrow. Tom's coming over to help with the bed."
Bianca smiles.
Bianca- Ah, nice.
"Yep. Though, I also have the training session with Chris in the morning, seeing as I need to iron out a few things. Especially after the match with Ethan --- even if it DID reignite the fire. The passion inside of me and showcase that purity can and will still prevail within this sport."
Bianca laughs, having watched the match with Lucina back at home, as she allows herself to absorb the surroundings.
Bianca- I could tell. You looked like you were honestly having fun out there --- kind of like you had before you slumped.
I laugh. She pretty much hit the nail on the head with those words, and she knows it too. If there's anybody who has a sense for these sorts of things, it's Bianca.
"Haha, that's because I was. It was never about the outcome for me - that was ALWAYS secondary. It was about affirming to myself that the flickers were more than just false hope. That it wasn't a mirage."
She leans in and plants a soft kiss on my lips, causing my lips to curl up. Leaning back, she notices the light within my eyes.
Bianca- Let's hope that it stays this time. That you're able to show them just why you are one of the best to step between the ropes.
"Don't worry about that. I think they know --- but if they choose to remain ignorant, then let them. That's their choice."
She sighs, having wanted an excuse to slap some sense into people.
Bianca- Okayyy --- I guess.
"It's not our fight. If they wish to continue consuming the poison. If they wish to continue enabling the degradation of all we hold dear, then there is no stopping them. They'll find a way to do it regardless. Look at what Liam and Bob did to Blade a few months ago."
Bianca looks at me, curious as to what exactly occurred.
Bianca- Hm? Surprised that she didn't already know, I glance at her. I had thought that she would have at least seen SOMETHING about it on social media, or even on the news. However, there are times where she takes the same sort of approach that I do to them and doesn't really pay them any attention. What, with Adams enterprises business and all that to manage too.
"I thought you knew about it."
Bianca- You mean the hanging? Or something else? Because I DID hear about something along the lines of a hanging but didn't pay much attention. Was busy trying to make sure the XComm deal went through back then.
I nod.
"Figured it was that, but yes. Cain, Bob and Commander along with the BUM squad decided to sacrifice Blade. Send some sort of message to him that his usefulness for them had expired and Liam was taking his place."
I pause, exhaling.
"I would have sent the same message a different way, but hey - they wanna be edgelords and try and make it seem like they should be feared, I guess."
I then lower my voice into a whisper.
"If that's what you wanted, it didn't work. I don't fear you after seeing that. Nobody does. In fact, it just makes you out to be uncreative and unoriginal."
Returning my voice to its usual volume, I stand.
"See, Liam. And Bob too, you might wish to see yourselves as the law. As the enforcers who will cast aside those who get in your way. Stack the deck against them and whatever, but all you come across as are children or janitors who have tripped on power and believe you are some imposing force."
I then begin to walk, the air brushing against my body.
"Which is EXACTLY what you are. And yes, I'm well aware that is gonna ruffle some feathers. Good. It's supposed to. If you know me, you should know I ain't about to sugarcoat sh*t or dress it up to make you feel better. Or to try and get you NOT to stack the deck against me come red alert.
In fact, I WANT you to do so. I want you all to come ringside and aid Liam. I want you to use the champions advantage, because it's there for this very purpose. To give you an 'out' when you realise that you have bitten off more than you can chew. That you have crossed a bridge too far and find yourself trapped playing a game that isn't yours. A game that you were destined to lose from the moment you set foot in the ring. Heck, the champions advantage doesn't even go far enough in my opinion."
I smirk calmly, baring my teeth.
"Make it a No DQ, No count out match for Liam only. Make it so that I don't get rope breaks. Fully stack the deck against me and claim it's for insubordination and to send a message that you are the law, as you like to put it."
Extending my arms out, I chuckle.
"I insist on it. It'll make it all the more fun when I lead Liam along like a puppy, then choke the life from him before taking that little belt. See, I know you need that belt Liam. I know that to you, it supposedly gifts you some sort of status. That it makes you believe you are some king. Or a name that should be on marquees when in truth - it is all you have. You know it, I know it, Bob knows it and they know it too. It's why you have been sheltered. It's why you have been able to go into hiding instead of adding to the title's legacy. A miniture Jake, expect unlike you, Jake actually has the established brand and legacy."
I then think back to my own match with Jake. A match where we took each other that neither of us have reached since that match. Something that I think Jake himself would admit just as readily as I do. Continuing my walk, I shoot a quick glance behind me, noticing that the kids that were previously playing here have likely wandered off.
"It is what is though, yet for you - that means that this is your first hurdle. Your first opportunity to show you can elevate the belt. That you are the one who can uphold what the title stands for. What it is supposed to represent. Show the masses just HOW you intend on crafting the title in your image."
I then laugh.
"Prove that I am wrong. Prove that no matter what your status is. No matter who you have in your corner, that YOU can be the one who gets the job done. Sure, the deck will be stacked in your favour but that is at my hands. I want you to use those advantages as a means of solidifying yourself. Of showing what happens when somebody crosses you."
I then take a step, across an imaginary line.
"Because I AM crossing you, Liam. I plan on hurting you --- on making sure you realise that this isn't just another person who will fall into line. Another person you can hold within your hands and rule over with an iron fist. That this is me, standing alone and letting you and Bob know that it doesn't matter what authority you might have, if you can't handle even the smallest of adversity. If even having someone threaten the security you have confined yourself within causes you to be on edge."
I continue to walk, a fire appearing within my eyes.
"Don't worry, you can go back to that little bubble of yours once we are through --- just know that it ain't gonna be with your precious championship by your side."
I playfully smirk.
"For I plan on taking that away from you. See, I don't need the belt. I merely WANT it, and when I want something, I go out and take it. No matter what I must transverse in order to do so. Which is EXACTLY what I will be doing with the championship. Not only will I be taking it, I will be elevating it to heights that you can only dream of, and I will be omnipresent whilst doing so."
My voice lowers into a whisper.
"I'm back to where I want to be in terms of mindset --- and that is the most dangerous thing you could have ever heard."
I then stop, glancing over my right shoulder and noticing Bianca, who had noticed me walk off, begin to head in my direction. ---
November 26th, 2021. 12:05 pm.
"Liam, Liam, Liam.
I hope you heed my words. I hope you take them seriously and realise that this isn't simply about the belt. That this isn't just a championship match. Because if that is your mentality going into this bout, then it is going to be a shock to the system when it turns out to be a match grander than you could envision. Nor is this a match that is about atoning Blade. I don't really give a f*ck about what you did to him. Doesn't impact me in any way whatsoever."
I shrug, as I sit within a darkened room. The lights dim and only revealing the outline of my body.
"This is about you. This is about you running around and acting like this is a sandbox and that you are the sherriff. That just because Bob designated you as his right hand man, that you hold ANY authority over this realm."
I take a deep breath.
"You don't. You never did. For this isn't Bob's game you are playing. Nor is it your own game. This is MY game and you are simply lost in the maze. Left with no escape as you attempt to flee. Hoping that they will save you."
A sinister laugh leaves my lips.
"The belt is just a bonus. For they won't be able to save you. They won't be able to find you and lead you from the mire that has been created. You thought Ryan Hawkins was evil?"
More laughter.
"You haven't seen ANYTHING yet. Ryan was merely a sheep in wolves clothing. A man playing a facade and facilitating the poison. I do this for the shrine. I do this to expunge and remove the poison. To return this industry to its purest state. A state that has no room for somebody like you within its halls."
The lights then brighten, revealing me within a bare room. Stripped down to only the basics plus the green chair I am sitting on.
"See, you are just like him in terms of injecting the poison. The two of you are part of why the industry finds itself within the hellscape that it does currently. And I am here to bring about the end of that. Starting when I put you into the ground and leave you within the depths of the mire. When I drag you to depths you have never seen before and that you will not be resurfacing from."
I flash a sadistic grin, as the light goes half light, half dark across my face. Like the horror films of the past.
"And trust me, Red Alert will be wherr you take your final breath. It is where the shrine shall show itself and only those who have been entrusted with upholding the purity it desires shall be able to ascend to the summit. The rest ---"
I pause, leaning forward.
"Well, they will be left within the mire, the poison rotting them from within and removed from the realm. Let it fester. Let it consume you, because it is what shall become your reality."
Deepening my previous laugh, I extend my arms out like a crucifix as I stand.
"I'll see you at Red Alert, where it all comes to pass at MY hands."
END.
