June 7th, 2010: ERWF Arena Columbus, Ohio
The scene opens to two male figures in silhouette. The area is smoky and foggy, like a flashback. We see that we are looking up at them as they seem to be in a cage that is on top of another cage. They are punching each other back and forth. One is wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt with black boots. The other is wearing a black, baggy, bodysuit with a hard silver mask that only shows his eyes.
Chet Ubetcha: Wayne and Flawless are just going after each other!
Pete Stevens: Yes they are but were we expecting any different? This is no wrestling match, this is a sanctioned murder! We had to empty the arena for this match! Remember, that top cage is a one fall match, the second cage is a hardcore match, and the ring is an inferno match. At the end of it all, outside the ring, working up the ramp and on the stage is a buried alive match! Only one will walk out of that arena alive!
Chet: You really think only one is going to walk out of here?
Pete: Chet, don't be shocked if neither walk out of here.
Flawless hits Russell with a sidewalk slam...the scene fades out
2 Months Ago: Payson, Arizona
A man is sitting on the edge of a bed. He moves his brown hair out of his face. The curtains in the sparsely decorated room are drawn. The man looks towards them and a sliver of sunlight hits his face, highlighting a striking green eye. He squints his eyes in annoyance that it is even daylight. He stands up and stretches, allowing the blanket to fall from him revealing a torso that has seen battle, there are several scars and a few burns. He picks up his blanket and turns around and throws it back on the bed. His back has a huge burn mark, a souvenir of his brother and his last match. He turns around and walks to a desk in the corner and takes a seat. He picks up an unopened letter. On the letter we see the IIW logo. It is addressed to Russell Wayne.
Russell: How did they even find me?
June 7th, 2010: ERWF Arena Columbus, Ohio
The scene opens back up to Flawless, in his mask, and Russell, in his black shirt. They are in the second cage. Russell holds a steel pipe, his trusty metal pipe. Flawless holds a barbed wire bat in his hands. They both have a look of hatred in their eyes as they stare each other down, breathing heavily, sweat pouring from their faces. Suddenly, Flawless and Russell act at the same time and raise their weapons and move to hit one another...the scene fades.
One Month Ago: Flagstaff Airport Flagstaff, AZ
Russell is carrying a green rucksack. He is dressed in a pair of black pants, black boots, a white T-Shirt and a denim trucker's jacket. He makes his way to the ticket counter.
Agent: How can I help you?
Russell: Yes, my name is...
Male Voice: Russell Wayne, come with me please...
Russell allows a smirk and slowly raises his hands and turns around. He sees a man standing with two armed agents.
Russell: Scott Gibson..
Scott: Follow me now, Russell.
Russell falls in line behind Scott as the two agents come behind Russell. They walk through the airport to the TSA area and walk into a questioning room. The agents take up a post outside the door as Russell and Scott walk inside.
Scott: Have a seat.
Russell: Took you long enough...
Scott: Cut the chat Russell, where is your brother?
Russell: Dead...you saw the match...
Scott: We never found his body, you barely made it out...
June 7th, 2010: ERWF Arena Columbus, Ohio
The scene opens up to Russell and Flawless in the ring, the ring apron is setup for an inferno match, with gas piping lining the apron and flames coming out of it. They are both laying on the mat. Utter exhaustion apparent as Russell is covered in blood, Flawless is also covered in blood with half of his mask missing. Russell rolls over and starts getting up. He kneels on one knee. Flawless starts getting up and gets up on both feet. Russell trips him up and knocks him over. Russell jumps onto the back of Flawless, stradling his back and throwing haymakers at either his head.
Chet: This is one for the record books folks. These two are just absolutely destroying each other.
Pete: After what Flawless did to his brother and his family. What do you expect?
Chet: Not this! LOOK, RUSSELL HAS FLAWLESS ON HIS SHOULDERS!
Russell is walking towards the ring apron with Flawless in a fireman's carry. When he reaches the ring apron, he lifts Flawless over his head and tips him over the ropes. As Flawless is falling, he grabs Russell's shirt pulling him over the ropes with him. When Flawless hit's the gas piping, it explodes, sending Flawless and Russell flying towards the ramp in a fireball.
Chet: Oh my God...the gas piping has malfunctioned and exploded. They both have to be dead...oh my God, the arena is on fire!
Smoke is starting to come out of the top of the arena. Inside the arena we see, through the flames, bodies stirring on the ramp, smoke coming off of them.
Pete: No way...
One Month Ago: Flagstaff Airport. Flagstaff, Arizona.
Russell and Scott are sitting across from each other.
Russell: You know what he did to Gwen and Cole...why would I know where he is? If I did, if I didn't think I finished the job, I would be looking for him. Instead, thanks to you, I've been having to hide for the last 10 years since you've been searching for me. I expected you a month ago when I got that piece of mail...what took you so long?
Scott: Cut the crap, Russell. My superiors thought it better to confront you where we knew you'd be...in public.
Russell: Not a bad strategy. So, if you're looking for Jared, then you're not here to arrest me for murder?
Scott: Unfortunately not. No body, no remains, no charges for murder. Arson, on the other hand...
Russell: Has already been taken care of. Rodriguez and the company responsible for pyrotechnics have already been convicted of gross negligence...
Scott: Then why have you been untraceable for the last 10 years if you thought your brother was dead.
Russell: You know as well as I do that there are worse people than Jared that want me dead.
Scott: They're all dead too. Thanks to those who stayed...
Russell: Good to see you guys finally did something right.
Scott: Dammit Russell, when are you going to stop blaming us for your families death?
Russell: When I die...anyways, if you're not here to charge me with anything...
Scott: No, we don't have anything. I wish you'd let us help you. We were friends once...
Russell: 20 years ago, you failed me...CIA failed me...if I'm free to go, I have a flight to catch.
Russell stands up to leave. Scott offers his hand.
Scott: It really is good to see you.
Russell: It'll be good to see this country in the background.
Russell doesn't take his hand and turns around and walks out of the room. Russell works his way through the TSA checkpoints and boards his flight. A non-stop to Manchester, United Kingdom. The letter said someone would be there to pick him up and bring him to the office, to just give them some time to discuss things. Russell respected the work that they had to put in just to find them and out of that respect decided to give them a moment of his time. "Wrestling." Russell thought...and his thoughts drifted to what little he remembered of his last match with his brother.
June 7th, 2010: ERWF Arena Columbus, Ohio
Firetrucks and ambulances are on the scene trying to put out the fire. The cameras inside have long since melted, nothing is known.
Chet: Fans, this has gone out of control. We have no idea of the condition of Russell or Flawless. This is not a part of the show. The malfunction with the fire was not supposed to happen.
Pete: None of this SHOULD have happened!
Chet: I know.
The point of view changes away from Chet and Pete and goes to the side of the arena down a loading dock. Simon Starr is seen running down trying to get back into the arena. Firefighters are trying to hold him back.
Simon: RUSSELL! RUSSELL! LET ME GO YOU WANKER!
BAM! Simon socks one of the firefighters in the head. The others lose their grip on him and let him go. He runs into the loading dock with smoke billowing out of it. He is yelling Russell's name. About 30 feet in he sees Russell's lifeless body. His shirt has been burnt off of him and pink and bloody skin is peeking through where the shirt is not stuck to. He looks around for Flawless but doesn't see him. He picks up Russell and runs out of the arena with him. As he exits out of the loading dock, flames shoot out behind in, singing his back. He and Russell fall to the ground...
August 5th, 2010: Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Burn unit. Columbus, Ohio
Simon is sitting talking to Russell. Russell recently awoke from a medically induced coma. He remembers nothing of how he got to the loading dock or after he threw his brother onto the piping.
Simon: So yeah, nobody knows where your brother is. They did find that a sewer grate was slightly open but that is it. In my mind, he's dead. Rodriguez has been arrested for this and the ERWF is out of business. I have to go back to the UK now I guess. Who knows where I'll end up.
Russell: Without a body, Jared is not dead. The police left a while ago. They are considering what charges to charge me with but have not arrested me yet. As this was a sanctioned match, they're not sure how to proceed. However, since I created Tormented Tendencies, I guess I have some liability in all of this. We will see, either way they are the least of my concern. I can avoid them no problem...it's my brother and his friends. I'm going into hiding.
Simon: Why?
Russell: Jared will have rejoined his old friends. They will not stop until I am dead. Anyone with me, they will kill too. I can't let that happen.
Simon: Where are you going?
Russell: I can't tell you that.
Simon: I literally ran into a burning building, pulled you out and saved your life. If you can't trust me, who can you trust.
One Month Ago: Manchester Airport. Manchester, England
Russell has retrieved his bag and is making his way towards the exit of the airport. He looks around for a sign baring his name. Instead, he sees an old ring veteran...
Russell: You son of a...that's how they found me. I thought I could trust you...
Simon: Hello, mate.
Russell and Simon head to the parking lot. They get into Simon's car and start making their way towards IIW's offices. Simon explains that an old company is reopening its doors and is looking for talent. They brought him on to be a trainer and asked if he could reach out to any veterans as they have a lot of green rookies.
Russell: Simon, it's been 10 years since my last match...you gave some company my name and PO Box...because they wanted a veteran. You know why I was hiding!
Simon: Haven't you watched the news at all, mate? The whole organization your brother betrayed you to got taken down...they are all dead.
Russell: Not Jared.
Simon: Flawless hasn't been seen since Tormented Tendencies...he has to be dead.
Russell: Nobody had seen me either after I got out of the hospital...he's alive, I know it. Besides...it's been 10 years.
Simon: Yeah, and you're still in the same shape you were in a decade ago...same hairstyle and all...just some new scars. Just listen to them. For me.
Russell: You still look the same...just about 20 pounds heavier and wrinkles...grey hair...nevermind. Fine, for you, I'll listen to what they have to say...but Simon?
Simon looks over at Russell.
Russell: Do you think they can handle it?
The point of view stays in place and goes above the vehicle as it turns into the parking lot for IIW's main offices and the scene fades to black.
