St. Cloud, MN - 2004 The opening camera shot is a zoomed-in shot of Caleb's face. A TV screen reflects in the pupils of his eyes as the camera zooms out. The last time we saw Caleb he had stumbled upon Amon and his people and had been accepted by them. A shocking scene is now revealed as Caleb has his hands tied above his head. He has no shirt, no shoes, and is wearing a pair of shorts that reach down to just above his knees. He is in a dark room, maybe closer to a chamber. The 4 concrete walls encompass only a small 10' x 10' room and the only light inside is coming from the TV. Caleb can stand flat-footed on the floor but the length of the rope around his wrists prevents him from moving anywhere else. Beads of sweat run down Caleb’s face and body, a very obvious look of discomfort and pain on his face as he winces. The camera circles around behind Caleb to an over-the-shoulder viewpoint. From here we see the TV mounted on the wall. Showing on the screen are quick cuts of various disturbing imagery. Standing next to the TV is Amon. He is in his robe, hood down and fingers intertwined, staring directly at Caleb. “You see Caleb, we believe something here in The Order. In order to properly inflict pain and release your deepest anger onto others, you first need to learn how to control your own pain and anger. The point of this desensitization exercise is for you to watch as much, what others would describe, shocking content until it feels like the norm…”Caleb drops his head from exhaustion. He clearly has already endured hours of this treatment. As quickly as his head drops, a figure from behind Caleb appears with a rod in hand and slaps it across Caleb’s back. He releases a short guttural grunt and begins to hold his head up again, a flash of anger and adrenaline bursting from his eyes. “…and if you refuse, you will continue to experience physical pain until that also goes unnoticed for you.”“P…Please.” The only word Caleb can muster up through his exhaustion. Amon approaches Caleb and looks at him face-to-face. “The only way we can build you up to what you truly desire to be is to first break you down completely. This is necessary for the future successes you will have. A temporary period of agony to gain a lifetime of triumph. There will come a day where we celebrate together, and you thank me for putting you through this. It is for the greater good of The Order. You are going to bring us out into the open and we have the perfect way for you to do it.”Caleb looks at Amon. The fire in his eyes growing; his anger building. He leans his head as close as he can to Amon’s and defiantly whispers “One day, I’m going to make you pay for what you’re doing to me.”Amon takes a step back and scoffs. He gives a smirk to Caleb before leaning to his left. “Make sure he keeps watching.” He tells the figure behind Caleb before leaving the chamber. The camera zooms into Caleb's eye until the screen is black. Anaheim, California Night Before Monday Night Mayhem The camera zooms out of Caleb's eye revealing we're now inside the Honda Center in Anaheim. The IIW crew is working hard putting together the ring and stage to get ready for Monday Night Mayhem and Caleb is standing above everything on the catwalk up in the rafters. His hands rest on the railing, the newly won Television Championship is attached to the railing between his hands and he stares down at the work being done. He is as still as a statue as he looks down. "Anthony Phoenix, I can't tell you how happy I am that you decided to challenge me after I won the TV title. You're the only one to defeat me in IIW. At Mayhem, even though we aren't going one on one, I am going to right that wrong. Body after body has fallen and been discarded in my wake as I tear through IIW. It's time to add you to that list. The hourglass that showed up on the screen was very appropriate because your time in IIW is running out, I'm going to make sure of that."Caleb begins to grip the railing with all of his strength. "It wasn't too long ago that I defeated Stoner to earn my shot at this title. I swiftly dispatched him and I will be doing that again. I'm sure he'll end up getting distracted by someone smoking weed in the crowd anyway and wander off. The Television Championship is just the beginning. My dominance will only continue. The Television title is my first championship in IIW and at Mayhem I will be put in my first tag match in IIW with a fellow champion, John Tolly. This match is a forgone conclusion. Two champions facing a burnout and someone who has been recently MIA."The grip on the railing relents and Caleb puts his hands to his side. He unstraps the Television Championship from the railing and throws it over his shoulder. He begins to walk along the catwalk, facing the camera. "Tolly, I have no issues with you. We've never met in the ring and I'm usually more of a singles wrestler but IIW found it necessary to team us up. You're the second ever Uprising Champion for a reason so as long as you do your part, I'll do mine and we can walk out of here with a win."Caleb glances to his side, over the railing down at the crew. "Just below me, the crew is setting the stage for mine and Tolly's victory and I am here to make sure everything goes to plan. Everything needs to be perfect. I want to know every inch of this place from the bare bones to when the final screw is put in place. The more I know, the bigger advantage I have…and the better I'll know if Amon decides to make an appearance again. I will not have him spoiling my night of victory."Caleb abruptly stops and glances up slightly. Seeming like he notices even the slightest change in the atmosphere inside the Honda Center. "Ah yes, of course. There you are again. You tried to spoil my big night but I still walked away with the gold around my waist. "In the distance on the catwalk behind Caleb, a silhouette can be seen. Amon makes himself known yet again before Caleb's match. Amon doesn't move, standing there motionless as Caleb turns around to face him. The two standing so far apart Caleb has to raise his voice in order for Amon to hear him. "Nothing to say this time? I'm warning you right now. If you attempt to interfere with my match again, I will bring hell down upon you. I will not rest until I destroy every trace of you there has ever been. The world will never know you even existed."Caleb lifts the Television Championship level with his head. "You see this? I did this without you! I never needed anything from you and don't you dare think I forgot about that promise I made to you in the chamber."Amon continues to stand completely still and silent, which irritates Caleb. Caleb begins to angrily walk towards Amon, one fist clenched, one holding the gold. As he approaches, Caleb brings his right fist back, ready to strike. Amon still not moving an inch. As Caleb swings at Amon, he connects with his robe but the second he does, the robe goes limp and falls to the floor as if Amon just disappeared out of thin air. "What the hell is this? Amon!?!"Caleb looks around for Amon. His calls go unanswered. While he's standing there the sound of laughter begins to echo through the arena. The laughter sounds like it's coming from every direction. A look of anger then washes over Caleb's face. The final shot is a close-up of Caleb as his face is red with rage as the camera fades to black.
