The greatest debacle when Maverick was growing up was if one was supposed to have ham on Thanksgiving. It had never been something that as a kid, Maverick Tatum had given much thought too but the way that the debate ending up being settled was simple..they had both. Maverick's father was a turkey man through and through but his mother loved ham and Maverick, well he loved both. Why choose one or the other when you could have both, but that is a subject we will come back around to. First things first, Maverick's plans to go home had been thwarted by him having to get to Spain of all places. Who the fuck wants to go to Spain for the holidays especially when he could be home, sipping cocoa, eating, and just..focusing. Not this year though and that was okay because there was always next year. "Anthony Phoenix," Maverick said as he took a second to allow his eyebrows to crease and then he spoke again. "Let me be formal by first saying hello and let me be undoubtedly rude and tell you that you can politely, actually impolitely fuck off. I do not even know you at all frankly and I already want to grab you by your neck until you are literally gasping for air and watch your face as it turns blue and the life is slowly drained from your body, because that is what you deserve for not allowing me to go home." Oh, wow. This was anger but you see Maverick was still trying to feel and understand his emotions so he only seen it as an unwavering feeling of misunderstanding, not yet centered on anger. "Do not get me wrong Anthony, I am sure you feel the same about me. As a matter of fact probably even less because you have been a champion and I have not so in your head I am sure that allows you to think that you are better than me, perhaps even that you know better than me, but all that means is that you were once a champion before my time and as of this moment you are not. We are the same in that regard," Maverick said as he chuckled deeply and then continued on. "Oh hell who are we kidding, I am still better." It was the whole ham and turkey debacle all over again. "I mean I get it, if I was you, hell I would be afraid of going into this match too, but not because you have something to prove, but because I do." Maverick took a second to take a breath, and then continued on. "I am hungrier than you, hungrier than you could ever think to be, because it's not a type of hunger that can ever be contained, much less satisfied. Then there is you, some guy who has done a little bit and now think that gives you the honor to step into the ring with me." Maverick shook his head. "Only few get to do that but your story is going to end the same, with me claiming victory though Anthony do not get it misunderstood, I do not win because I need to, I simply win because I choose too." Most people who had been in I.I.W. in such a short time as Maverick had and were doing moderately well would have an ego thanks to it, but not Maverick, hell he had ego for reasons far beyond wrestling. "However do not let that stop you from coming prepared, as a matter of fact do me and the entire fan nation a favor and come more than prepared. Despite the lackluster feeling that you give me as an opponent I still want to put on a good show, because it's what my career deserves in the end. You see The Second Coming excels at any and everything that we want and even if it means smashing each and every person's face in, well that is simply what must be done. You Anthony just happened to be the next causality in a long time of people who are destined to fall flat on their face, and look up as those who are simply better at every angle and just above every tier of everything that you have already known will feel as bad as a chicken coming home to roost. Not my fault every particular thing about you that makes you despicable and deplorable will be picked apart by me in order to secure this victory but do not worry, I promise that you will not be the last person who this happens too." Maverick was not feeling the holiday spirit at all since his plans had been changed, but unlike most Maverick could easily adjust to change. He also did not want to go into his match with Anthony as a hangry individual, so as he got up off of the floor he spoke, most of it centering around cussing words because his cooking tasted nothing like his parents thankfully he was saved by his phone ringing as he picked it up. "Rhett what's up?" Maverick took a second as he listened. "Yea, it seems kind of archaic though, but I mean if we need too. No I was not aware at all." Maverick had no idea why every time something different happened, he automatically seemed to get the blame. Now it was true that he had his hand in the cookie jar a hand or two when it came to weird ideas but most things that Carter did, he simply came up with on his own. "Yeah I will be there with bells on." ~~ Why is the holiday season like this?: A few hours later:~~ "All I am saying is when I first seen the train, all I was thinking was "All you had to do was follow the damn train CJ!", the voice of Maverick boomed as he finally came into view. The camera crew had finally managed him to get a few words in about the situation that had happened and even though it was a down right horrific situation, a dead body being found and no clue as to how, who, or where, Maverick had found a bit of a bright light in the situation as he straightened up.
He leaned forward and struck a match, lighting up the candlestick that sat in front of him and then gently blowing the match out. "I mean I know this is not what you guys were expecting to cover but hell if this isn't going to get some views," Maverick said as he held up the candlestick, shining a little more light over the dining cart where he had chose to sit himself and have a plate of some of this delicious food. His plate consisted of two slices of ham, two slices of turkey, white and dark portions because who could ever truly decide, a side of sweet potato soufflé, dressing, potato salad, rolls, and cranberry sauce, also along with appropriate silverware as he took a bite and chewed in silence. Once he was finished he spoke, as he placed the candlestick down in the middle of the setting.
"Oh what? Am I not supposed to eat because a body is as cold as ice?" Maverick gently shook his head. "It is a tragedy no mistaking that but you know what is a more tragic tragedy? Wasted food, which is exactly also why people should donate to IIWMT. Org. No Mistle-Tot goes hungry, cold, or wants for anything under this organization. I would also like to take this time to talk about Wealth over Health. Remember that even in tragedy, money does help. The truth was, the scream that had found itself captivated inside the train had not scared Maverick but it did make him slightly wish that he had chosen to stay home. Also the fact that it seemed like his cell phone service was down did not help either as he got up and tried to move, passing the halls of the train, still crowded with people, some frozen at the idea of something like this and some just thankful it was not them. He finally escaped to the lounge area and almost stopped when he looked up and seen Shante' Waverly, decked out in her orchid colored array of witchy flowing dress and boots. "Shante," he said as he sat down. Normally he would run, but the situation considering he'd take his chances with the siren of the sea. "Maverick," she said as she offered him a slice of pie and spoke. "Would you believe they tried to pass this sweet potato pie off as pumpkin?" she said as he watched her cut her a slice with a dagger. His eyes stayed on the dagger for a second. "I would, but we all know pecan is the holiday pie topper. Anyway, look.." he said as a sharp CLANK! was heard. "Fuck," Maverick said. "I am never going to get to finish training for my match against Anthony Phoenix if shit like this keeps happening. "Let's go check it out." "Are you sure that you got my good side?" Shante asked as she shook a little bit in front of the camera. "I mean this is going to be everywhere," she said as she stood up and begin to sing. "So yeah I was in the lounge are of the train eating pie and I was joined by Maverick. He smelled like ham and turkey and a side of singe. Yeah he had singe on him I was eating pie with my dagger right here, point being I have no clue who did anything." She said as she stuck the dagger, downwards in her hair in order to keep it into place. "It is sad though," she said as a tear fell down. "I know just how to cheer everyone up though," she said as she got up and motioned for the camera man to follow her. "We need fresh air," she said as she went and lifted up a few of the windows and pointed to Maverick. "Come on," she said as Maverick got up and Shante' began to sing:
"Cleaned a lot of plates on this train, as much as my hands can stand Ate a lot of pie, and no finding a body was not in the plan Now we are stuck, a murder they say that it is Weapon, Location and Who, they sure did not miss." As the words flowed and the winds of nature flowed through the train, Maverick smiled. It was good to see some of the people seem to forget about the big problem that existed for a second and simply allow themselves to be. Too bad Maverick could not allow himself to say the same thing about Anthony. He felt that the match might be one of the hardest for him to task and climb over, simply based on experience for experience but the pure cockiness and ego of him would not allow for him to settle for anything less than the win. He could feel that hunger starting to come back up. "Poor Phoenix," he mumbled under his breath as he walked through the mass of people who had now started their own shimmy. "I mean I could say that you might be able to dance your way around a lot of people but I am not one of them. You could claim that you would fox trot your way to victory and I will still simply be one step ahead of you and two steps better not because I speak it but because I want to be." "So yeah we all went to sleep, well they went to sleep. I do not really sleep well in train carts but I rested well enough and then, it was like BOOM, HOLIDAY MURDER MYSTERY!", Maverick once again came into view as he was speaking to the camera people who seemed uneasily calm but hey they had to get the information to edit, despite the drastic circumstances. "I mean it is supposed to be a season of thankfulness and cheer and well someone got a little extra cheerful and whacked an innocent person out of their mind!" He smiled. "I am sorry it is not funny or anything to play about I just get really smiley and excited when I am scared."
Maverick's leg began to slightly thump as he spoke but his words were steady. "A dead body is not something that I am going to allow to distract me though. You see we're semi celebrities now, we're getting to Explosion by hook or crook and sadly the fact that I will still be better than Anthony Phoenix with possible blood on my hands will still be shown, because let's not act like everyone on this train isn't a suspect." It was a rock and a hard place, having to prove your innocence in a sea of holiday dwindle and the absolute rush of trying not to panic and remain focused on what lay ahead as Maverick took in a deep breath. "I feel as if this is the first time I have felt confident enough to acknowledge my fear. I mean my match is big time, well mid time and a murder case, shit however one focus point at a time. I am going to help solve this along with A.T.G. and Daddy Mari..."
A deep flicker of concern ran across his face. It was almost as if a realization that he could be victorious in the ring and in this terrible twist of fate dawned on him. "Yeah, make sure Anthony Phoenix gets the message that he will be just another person who will come up against me and experience failure." Still something was off about this whole thing. "Give me that camera," Maverick said as he snatched it and got up and only his voice was heard. "I know who did it!" By George, we're ready, are you? "Guys!" Maverick screamed again as his voice was still heard but the view of the camera was still blackened out. "Like a phoenix rising from the ashes!!," he said dramatically, "I know what happened!"

The truth was he had no idea if it was the thoughts of never being able to get off of the train or if he actually had thought that perhaps he had all of the pieces, all of the clues if one would to solve this and get them back where they needed to be. All Maverick felt like he had to do was look at it from every angle, cross off what he knew and eventually the killer would be revealed. Still as he ran through the halls of the train passing the various carts his mind was running a good bit ahead of him for that sneaky monster of what if had started playing along especially as he heard Beckett now, and the camera man too running after him. He paused and turned coming face to face with Beckett. "Space please," he said as he took a step back but that camera man was tempted to cross the line but stayed still at least for the moment. He looked around for the members of A.T.G. and he did not see them, Tyde, or Shante'. Fuck had he missed something? No, no he had paid complete attention as he put the camera down and gently put his foot on it to keep the camera in place and allow him also to capture his breath. He took a second to count to five in his head and then spoke. "The truth is I have absolutely no idea who did it, I have no clue I just felt like the tension needed to be broke because you could feel it starting to rise even though it is invisible. The air was starting to thicken and the last thing that I wanted was to have someone snap." It seemed almost unorthodox but that was Maverick. It was also a bit selfish but he still had to get to Spain. It was not that he had changed his mind about spending part of the holiday season there no but he was not going to let Phoenix win their match. Not only would that go against every fiber of Maverick's being as a natural gifted athlete but what the hell kind of social media posts would he have after if he lost to this guy? Absolutely none or at the very least that was how he felt especially now as he watched the people moving and he knew why. The rumors of Sawyer Wade having something to do with it were starting to weave around the train heavily and that made Maverick sad but he felt that Sawyer was innocent, he just had the look of someone who would kill a person who agitated him a little bit but in no way did it mean that he had actually done such a damn task. "I am sorry if I caused a stir," he said as he finally moved his foot off the camera and handed it back to the camera man and looked at Beckett. She seemed oddly enough put together considering that her match was bigger than his but he said nothing at the moment as the camera man got himself back in place and nodded to Maverick, giving him the tell all that he could go on but they were now once again rolling. "I like to bring the entertainment which can confuse many people but after I am done with Anthony Phoenix you will see that the entertainment is just a slim part of who I am as a whole person, well I mean if I allow Phoenix the ability to talk after that is." Yep, this was the beginning of cabin fever at least as far as Maverick was able to process it. What was mere minutes, two hours at the most now was beginning to seem like so much more to him and he did not like it at all as his leg went to shake but he stopped it. It was beginning to become a small different quirk that Maverick had about himself and right now he felt like he had all that he could handle. "You know how everyone has that side or in some cases those sides of themselves that people don't see? This is like that for me. You see the most time people get to see the fun side of me but the longer that we are here, the longer that it starts to appear that I do not get to beat yet another so called obstacle from corner to corner in an I.I.W. ring, well the more that a part of me that no one wants to see come out but thanks to Carter, thanks to the cameras everyone will see this side of me." It did not come out like he was ashamed, no need in that. If anything it came out like it was a slight embrace, a walk along the wild side that he wanted to be able to extend his hand out to and invite anyone who had the time and wanted to walk beside him, along this road of what would one day looked back on as I.I.W. greatness when it came to Maverick Tatum, to do just that. He considered himself scratched beyond the surface now and with each opponent, the layers starting to get deeper, wiser, and simply better than your average other wrestler. "There is so much that I could say about Anthony Phoenix but I feel like once everyone sees this and then turns around and see Explosion the words will ring upon death ears because the actions will leave these so called fans with their mouths agape." As Maverick talked, Beckett looked at him, the camera catching her actions. Beckett had always been the hardest to read but right now she was easy as any open source of reading material. The look of surprise on her face seemed to be riddled with confusion and wonder, two curiousities that no one person should ever experience at once because it was dangerous. It was like a taste of something that should not go well together but did and all you were able to do was want more, still Maverick did not seem phased by this as the camera man spoke to him. "Go on," the camera man said, his voice almost caught up in the words but he, himself not being sure if he should continue filming but it was apart of his job wasn't it so he had no choice."Maverick nodded, and was about to go on when one of the female passengers came through with a crying infant and looked at them and Maverick looked at her and the camera and then gently reached his arms up and motioned for the woman to take a seat as he began to gently rock the baby, keeping the head secure and his voice being barely above a whisper as he spoke next. "Such innocence unlike the rest of us, that is what I find the most joyous part of the different sides of us being. Each part of who we are until we choose to unravel it outfor the world to see is as innocent as this infant. I guess I could say the same about Anthony Phoenix but I think at least the way that I see it, someone whose last name is after one of the most mystical and beautiful creatures in history is as one dimensional as they come. It is not his fault, he just lacks what most of us go through in our life time and that is having our innocence taken away from us before we are ready in whatever way the cruel world sees fit and while most would say that this makes him a one of the lucky ones, I say it makes him one of the weak ones." The eerie silence that had hit the room was a bit unsettling but if one listened closely not only would they hear the soft coo of the baby as it was settling into the fact that just for a few seconds all was right in it's little world of innocence, not yet ripped away by that of reality but also the sounds of truths and pills being swallowed as reality was settling in for others as well. "It's no secret," Maverick continued for a second and then switched arms with the baby. "Hardships in life make each of us who we are but it does not matter what he says, what he thinks, what he has done, Anthony Phoenix simply is not me. Hell to be compltely honest no one but me is me and that not only makes me better in every way, but it also pushes forth a confidence for each and every opponent of mine that they have never had the experience of knowing they had." It was still a ear deafening ring through his ears. "They say Focus Mavis, be the you we all know exists and yet there is no one in Intense International Wrestling who deserves that from me," he said as he finally settled for putting the baby up on his shoulder and slowly began to rock back and forth. "Well," the camera man said as he switched shoulders as well. "I have to ask, does this mean that we, well the people have yet to see you? A side of you that perhaps truly matters. I mean we all see the social media side of you but it seems as if you might be saying that there is a more, deeper, much more realistic side to you that is itching to come out you just do not deem anyone worthy of seeing it yet.""I think that everything falls into place as it should and right now I do not have an answer for that question. I am just doing everything that assures I win, as are the people that I am around. I mean our group, well you have been apart of it and are witnessing it as it happens. We all have one goal, to be the best no matter who it requires taking down. None of us have been infants in a very long time and the world is cruel but we are crueler, we are more maniacal in and out of the ring. As for the body that was found on this train, it's too bad and it's sad but life sadly goes on because the world continues to fucking turn just a little bit colder to everyone. Something that Phoenix will see. Now," he said as he went to go speak on and looked up in time to notice that there was a shuffle going on among the people as noise was heard. "Let's switch," he said as he handed the baby over and took the camera. "It seems they are looking for Sawyer," he said disgruntled. He gave it a little thought and it was entirely possible that Sawyer could and had killed someone. The anger was there, but he had no idea if motive was. "Fucking Sawyer better not have done anything to keep me from getting to Explosion." Damn hanging around friends was some bullshit!, especially when you might find yourself caught up in their antics.
