He supposed in a way he had a lot to answer for, or rather he supposed he owed a lot of answers but even in knowing that he owed those answers he found that he was not giving them for you see this was not the path he wanted, it was the path that he had to choose. Life is always going to be about choices and not every choice will be easy but more importantly not everyone will love every choice you make but who cares? When making said choice it is not for the better of anyone else but yourself that you need to be able to sit and accept it for you are the one who will have to deal with the face of consequences head on ironically enough and still, the world is owed no answers. He took a second to stretch out as the sounds of birds chirped softly, yet in tune to also be annoying around his ears for the world had still spun as he knew it would and today was the first day of what he considered "dealing with the repercussions" of his actions and somehow he had still slept like a baby. Ironic once again how that seemed to work.
Perhaps it had started a few days ago when he knew that he had felt someone walking through his mind. Perhaps before that but the exacty when of it happening that shit no longer mattered either, the only thing that mattered now was going on to his next step in not only his life but his career. Tex had been informed that his following match coming up on Combat would be against a young man named Xavier Lux. Tex grunted as he stretched once more and ran his hands across his back and flinched just a second as he came across a soft spot. "What in the?" he asked aloud, clearly confused as he got up and went and stood in fromt of the mirror and turned so that he could see his back. "Odd," he said because he was sure that was not there before as he tried to recollect the events of the night before. To no one's surprise it waws all a drunken, sugary blur of forgetfulness as he quickly found a shirt and tried to recall the darkest moments of a night before:
"What can I do for you?" the voice asked with a deep husk to it as Tex looked up, his nose crinkled as he spoke. His tone would have usually been friendly and otherwise inviting but this particular tone had a bit of a hiss to it as he thought just a second longer and then spoke. "Give me the hardest thing that you have on the shelf." He doubted that it would be something that he could not handle but you see he had business to take care of. The devil in the details was that this was the hardest vice still for him to shake. Months later, opponents in and out of being matched up in IIW's combat and still the hardest enemy that he would ever come up upon was the alcoholic vice that tasted like a bee's sting, and even often left his lips swollen and still he could not choose for longer than two, three days at most to give it up.
None the less blurred and tasteful the drinks came and kept coming as he thought about how his soul literally now felt like it belonged to someone else. No longer did it feel as if he, Texaco Attwater was in charge but someone, something else entirely different. The hunger inside of him now seemed to multiply ten fold and Tex was doing all that he could to hold onto that which had made him what he was but he literally felt as if he could physically feel that version of himself being shred and only existing in a pile of remnants on the bar room floor, still a smile had found it's way on his face.
He shook himself out of the memory and thought about Xavier Lux. Just yet another IIW Combat wrestler trying to prove himself to the useless people either in the back or the scoundrel of fans who would otherwise spit on the man and anything that he stood for rather than praise him for what he could be but you see Tex could not blame Lux for what he wanted to do because it had not been that long ago that Tex was in that same position himself so he would take the man known as Xavier Lux into their next match and beat some sense into him so that Mr. Lux could quickly come to his senses much much sooner than Tex had. You see Texaco "Tex" Attwater was simply doing Xavier Lux a much needed favor. It was what the Over Younders who had been tuning in, what those so faithful to actually know who Texaco Attwater had been deserved and he felt like scooping them up a heapful of "told ya so," ever so delicious when seeing it realized and making it coming true.
"Yeah don't think so," Tex said as the man had him cornered and had caught him with a punch to the gut. Screw being drunk and double vision at the moment but Tex still managed to rail back and catch a side punch that landed across the guy's face as he turned to make his exit. The atmosphere in the bar had seriously took a dive and he could feel what at the moment he could only find himself able to categorize as rage building up inside of him as he exited outside but the man followed as Tex turned back to him. The small glint of horror now ran across Tex's face as he realized that the man was going to try and deck him again as Tex quickly caught the man from behind and simply begin to choke him as he whispered into his ear. "You must not know who you are dealing with," the voice once again hissed stepping into menacing territory just a little bit and yet still Tex's words were spoken on. "When someone gives you the chance to go on and they choose to willingly let you still breathe and yet it was not good enough...
It was all coming back to him and yet he had no true reaction. He only worried about Xavier for now for that incident, it was in the past right? No slack off of his back and besides he had called his..friend, yes, friend..Sebastian Hamilton. It was one thing to do wrong, it was a whole different game to have it taken care of but he remembered it more now.
"I fear Seb that he, the man just would not stop you see," Tex said as he now ran his blood covered hand through his own hair. A critical state of that which he will only wish was death, but he deserved it." He did not know why he had left that message for Hamilton, and yet he knew that it was the correct thing to do. "I pulled him into the corner of fifth and ninth and the other patrons that were in the bar, well I anonymously paid for their tab to last all night. I am a man who knows that once they have drunk themselves silly they will not remember, not to mention it has been four hours since I was last seen at that bar. No one will miss him, he was scum of the earth anyway."
What had became of the man's body after that was anyone's guess and though his hands were dirtier than they had ever been looking at them his hands were completely clean. His soul perhaps snatched beyond anything left him feeling nothing but content and ready for his match on Combat and his alcohol laced vice had found itself fulfilled and closed for a door to a new, perhaps more deadlier vice awaited and he simply called that revenge. "Still," Tex finally said. "Mr Lux you see I take our match seriously. I find that you should know that and it is not revenge that I want on you I simply must show the world why the decision, why the turn and the inevitable slow leak of darkness that has surrounded me mentally now comforts me physically." Once he had turned and seen the way of the nightmare court, it was like seeing the world in a whole new darkened light and he did find that satisfyingly. "While I can not promise to enter your nightmares Mr Lux for that is something that I leave up to Tyde, I can promise you after our match, you will be lucky if you can even breathe on your own."

Flashback Xavier’s is at an irrelevant location when his phone goes off and he sees an alert from the security system app at one of his homes, the one in LA. He opens the app and checks the alert, something about there being a brake-in. He clicks on the live video feed, and it is raining there, making it hard to see but he can make out two people who seem to have gotten past the main gate and are at his main door, looking in and trying to find a way to get in. He grumbles and then clicks a button that alerts the authorities, not too longer after that he gets a call from the police which he promptly answers. Hello?Hi Mr. Lux, this is officer Ramirez with the Del Monte Police department. Just wanted to let you know we apprehended the two people who broke into your home and are holding them here at the precinct. Nicely done officer. Thank you, we wanted you to come down briefly, just to ID the two individuals and share the footage from your security system, decide if you want to press charges, and sign some documents.Yeah sure no problem, I’ll be there in a few.Later that evening he arrives at your very standard looking police department. He walks past the night’s menu of detainees and heads up to the front desk where he tells the officer on duty what he is there for. Once they confirm his identity, officer Ramirez arrives shortly after and quickly shakes Lux’s hand. Hi Mr. Lux, this way please. He leads the way and Xavier follows. So, who are they? Couple of wrestling fans who don’t know when to stop being marks? The officer gives him a weird look. Not sure, one of them is a boy, but I don’t think his name is Mark. Never mind. The other person is a young woman. I’m going to stop you right there… I know what this is.Sir, please let me finish… No damn it! I am not my father! I am not about to go through the same shit all over again except that this time I am the Scorpion. I don’t fuck around… I am not about to have some woman come in to my life telling me I have a son. No, that’s not me! I am not him! I'm not! I'm..Sir, please calm down! Sir? Oh shit!Xavier’s world starts to turn and before he knows it he falls on his ass and faints. That’s right, the “man with venom in his veins” just fainted.
Present time In his hands he holds a mask, but not just any mask, this is the mask belonging to El Landerson. Could be authentic, could be a replica, hard to tell during this chilly night in Mobile, Alabama, where the only light is being provided by a bonfire. As he admires it, running his fingers through the stitching, he smiles, remembering his big PPV win. He then tosses the mask into the bonfire and watches as it’s quickly consumed by the flames.I have to thank El Landerson, he gave me in my debut match more than I was expecting, but in the end, what was supposed to happen happened: Xavier Lux wins.He sits on a nearby log and watches the fire burn briefly before continuing. Next I have been booked against Texaco Attwater, a true cowboy? Not likely, but a make-believe one? Definitely. I am going to bypass making fun at the obvious first name here, because “Tex” believes he is a reincarnated version of a famous cowboy from the 1800’s… Now I don’t know much about famous cowboys, and I’ll be honest and say that if it wasn’t for Young Guns 1 & 2 and The Gunslinger book series, I probably wouldn’t even know who Billy “The Kid” was or Roland of Gilead… But that’s neither here nor there, my knowledge of cowboys from days past, whether real or fictional won’t help me none Friday Night and neither will him believing himself to be one. We are fighting inside the ring not in a corral somewhere in Texas, though we are in Alabama and I’m sure that type of match can be easily arranged. But I am not here to be a bull for him to rope in, I am a snake that has sharp fangs filled with venom that with one quick strike, like El Landerson found out, can end you just like that. He snaps hi fingers. From what I have read, Tex is a charming fella, but also a needy one, seeking the approval and friendship of everyone he comes in contact with. Why would you become a professional wrestler if this is your personality? Seems like he is in the wrong profession and has come to the wrong place… Intense Wrestling is everything but for charming fellas, unless they want to be sitting behind a commentators table or hanging around the locker room waiting to interview the true superstars of this promotion. I guess on Friday I’ll find out who exactly I am dealing with… A make-believe cowboy… an audience charmer or… A goddamn backstabbing turncoat. He pulls out a flask, opens it and drinks a generous amount before putting it down on the ground in front of him. Oh yeah, I saw what Tex did at Theater of War… While I was in my locker room getting ready for my match, I was watching it all unfold on the TV screen… Now I don’t know the story, I haven’t been here that long, and I’ll be lying if I said I have been keeping up with everything going on in the brand I now belong to. I know the gm might be upset upon hearing this, after all I had promised I would take a look but frankly I’ve been too busy but I am also a man that only looks towards the future, and not the past. I don’t care what happened in shows prior to me arriving here, but now that I am here, I’m paying attention… and that night, I saw Tex turn on the team known as Bear-O-Dactyl, just to join what appears to be the dominant faction here in IIW, or at least in the Combat brand, Nightmare Court. Now correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t cowboys supposed to live by a code? What is that I read? Cowboys stand for what matters, even if they stand alone. They finish what they start. Being a cowboy isn't in their clothes, but in their characters? Well at the pay-per-view, you showed poor character, some may say he showed his true colors… and I don’t think Tex is so much a cow-boy as he is a cow-ard. You know what I think of cowards? Xavier stands up, unzips his pants, takes out his pet snake and begins to piss on the fire. Once he is done, he shakes once, twice, three times a snakey. He zips back up, grabs his flask and sits back down. Now I know I could be completely talking out of my ass here, not knowing the whole story… I saw that a woman was involved, the one he kissed at the end, Fiona… Was all that for her? For a female? Is “bros before hoes” not written in that cowboy code of theirs? Oh, that’s right, he’s from the 1800’s, they didn’t know how to read or write back then… It just seems to me that Tex is nothing but confused, or stuck between a rock and a hard place, but what this all means is that he is mind is elsewhere… Come Friday, he may be too worried about Bear-O-Dactyl retaliating… or he may be too busy reaping the spoils of joining the Nightmare Court or he may even be too lost in love… whatever the case may be, he will not be focused in our match where I… I have nothing going in IIW but this match and this match alone. Tex refers to himself as “The Truthteller”, well here is the truth from my end... I will come into that match with all my attention on Tex, and if he doesn’t bring his A game, I will tear him apart worst and quicker than I did Landerson. My focus is on winning, my focus is moving up and breaking into the top-10 power rankings. I said it at the very beginning, I'm here to win, I'm here for the gold, I’m not here to make friends and join alliances named after animals… I don’t care about your mascots, whether they are bears or owls or even dinosaurs…
Come Friday, like the man in black, I will take down the gunslinger and chase after that dark tower, moving on to bigger and better things and he can go back to his little make-believe-world whether in the past or in the future. It really doesn’t matter, and you know why? Because I am the present. Mr. Lux? Xavier turns back and sees a boy he didn’t know up until two months ago when he, and his mother, broken into Xavier’s house in LA…. The little boy just stands there, looking as nervous as the first time the two met.
Flashback Lux wakes up on the bed of a jail cell. The hell? Relax sir, you fainted…Xavier sits up and looks at the officer a bit confused, then spins around and puts his feet on the floor, sitting at the edge of the bed. He looks up at the officer and asks…So, um, how many people saw me faint? Just me. Xavier looks at him ashamed.Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. Thanks… So, about the two people that broke into my yard.Follow me. Xavier stands up and follows the officer out of the jail cell. They go down a couple of corridors before reaching the interrogation room. The officer opens the door for him but doesn’t go in himself. Xavier moves past him, entering the room and sees for the first time the woman and kid that he saw from a far, in the security camera on his phone app. Then, it was raining and dark, he thought they were two teens at best. Now he does see the young kid, and to his relief, he doesn’t look anything like him. He is light-skinned, blonde hair and green eyes. The woman is a brunette, her skin a russet, reddish-brown color, very similar to Xavier’s but her green eyes matched the boys perfectly. She also has the cutest dimple in the front of her chin, which Xavier just now notices the boy also has… He is her son despite the skin-tone difference…. But still not his, as he sure as hell doesn’t have a butt-chin. So why you try to break into my house? We weren’t, we were just looking for you. We thought you were home. And why were you looking for me? You guys wrestling fans? You know I don’t grant Make-a-Wishes. Huh? What no, my son is healthy. But he is a wrestling fan, and that is where he saw you… He was watching the World Series of Wrestling and that’s when he pointed you out to me. I saw your whole story, and who your father was. Javier Quinn. Yeah, what about him? My name is Cassandra and that right there is Braylon, your nephew. “The Scorpion” is my father too Xavier… I’m your sister. Xavier is taken back, but only a little… Sure he was expecting worst news, the son he didn’t know he had… “But a sister? That’s not so bad” he thinks to himself. How? Please have a sit, and I’ll tell you everything. Xavier nods and together with his newly found sister they sit down at the table. She begins to fill him in as Braylon watches attentively.
To be continued…

Tex had finally managed to go four days without drinking. He knew that for someone who had not been an alcoholic as much as he had the accomplishment was nothing but for him it seemed to be everything because he still wanted to be able to do not just good but simply well in his match against Xavier Lux. Again it was not because Lux deserved it but Tex was at a change in his life where he needed to learn to focus simply for himself and also so that he could finally start to etch and become someone serious when it came to the combat roster. He knew that people already knew who he was and his issues mentally should be pretty much well documented by now and yet for the moment he lacked something he was starting to find could be just as meaningful in gold. Yep that was right, a championship of any kind.
He knew that in order to get to even be a contender that now simply meant that he had to best Lux. How to do that though that part still remained a mystery to him even this morning as he found himself trying to do what people referred to as spring cleaning. However with the voices in his head he did not do spring cleaning like most, nope he simply sat back watching the fire on the inside of his apartment burn as he felt that his soul had done about a week and a half ago. The smell of the crisp burning was still something he found had a way of soothing him even though he felt weird at the way that he lingered at it. Still he now had someone beside him. The world had been introduced to Fiona only by name but that was just scratching the surface as he heard her speak.
"We need to get out. Sitting up in this house watching your soul burn through logs is not good for neither of our minds dear and plus you know how I feel about fires. If you step too close to it, you will get burned and as a person who sort of knows what the feels like trust me when I say it would be better if we went out and trained for this Xavier Lux fellow."
"I am ready for him at least as much as he deserves and truthfully I think that is more than enough. I have found myself looking over the roster and I feel pretty good about where I stand now but if I am being one hundred percent honest I feel like I could be and deserve better. Honestly it is like with this new side of me it has also opened up a new hunger one that I am not sure could find itself easily appeased even if I wanted my road to be easy instead of hard and winding as I find is a better fit for me now." The good news was that now that he seriously had let up on the drinking and unintentionally choking the air out of people he seemed to have much better intentions even though they still remained to be seen actually get put into action and pushed through.
"Mutually there for a while even I can admit that it felt very touch and go but now it all seems very push forward and you know better than anyone that when you have done all that you can, it is then that you need to relax which is what this is allowing me to do. Fiona we may be admittedly off of our rocker but it does not mean that we have to use it to run rapid quite yet. I fear that while we slink and sleaze in the shadows of the Nightmare Court that we now associate ourselves with, it is no reason to rush." He understood her need to rush though for she had literally lost time which was something that he had been able to avoid in a way as he heard her speak again.
"Well in that case you can stay but I need to go for a walk, If I am not back in an hour I suppose I just forgot how to get back." Though he knew he should stop her for she did not need to go out by herself he let her go. She needed that fine line between time alone and guarded and besides he refused to not be focused for Xavier for he felt as if Xavier wanted the same thing that he did. Still how they went about it that was always going to be the true difference as he still watched the fire burning. Maybe she had been right but he was not taking any chances at all as he leaned his head back and slowly began to drift off to sleep his head always stiff as a board once he was out of it completely.
The sounds of the old west played quietly but his mind was more clouded than previous times. He supposed that was because with the addition of Fiona this version of himself, this 'Tex' did not bother to fight him as much and he simply wanted to watch from the inside of this mental headspace now, eagerly awaiting how it would unravel for this mind was fragile yet always hanging on.
'I think that Tex has allowed himself to finally wrap what mind he has left around the fact that I am no longer here to harm him but I am here only to help and it is much much easier now that it seems that we are not fighting trying to go against the current when all we need to do is allow ourselves to go with the flow and as we stop doing this dance of being two and come into the sync of being one, we can do more of what we like.'
Set the world on fire, watch the people burn and let their screams wrap us in a warmth that would allow us to sleep so well at night that we truly can also get on the same page mentally. That is the biggest hurdle standing in our way now, for we are tired of playing with these measly small people who think that they are "the one" and "the next up and coming on Combat," the voice said as it let out a stern laugh. The truth was that no matter who came in, who left, no one was better than Mr. Attwater. 'The problem is I just need to find a way to show him that, that which I say is the truth and then the stage and presence that is Combat will simply be mine, excuse me ours for the taking.'
Still it was going to be hard to keep him how he was, in such a sync, especially now with Fiona. All of them had a special place for her but they had also been able to contain her during all of the other lifetimes, but he, 'the horror' felt like with the fact that she had been freed and that this version of himself sat somewhere between in reality and gripping through fantasy she might become a problem but for now he would sit on it as he hummed a soft melody. It appeased all the personalities and right now they needed rest so that they would be ready for Mr. Lux.

Hey Braylon, you don’t have to call Mr. Lux… You can just call me uncle if you want.
He struggles with this word as he stares at his nephew decked out in Paw Patrol pajamas… It’s probably easier than saying “call me dad”, he still relieved he isn't one. Not that he wouldn’t want kids one day, just not any time soon. Bray looks down and plays with his feet, rubbing his kiddie crocks together like kids do when they are nervous or shy.
Ok not uncle, just Xavier, or “X” if your hip.
The kid looks up right away with guilty eyes.
oh, no, I do want to call you uncle... It’s just, a little weird you know?
Xavier smiles and nods in agreement.
Yeah, I know, it’s weird for me too. We’ll get over it together, deal?
Deal!
Cool, so was I being too loud? Sorry I didn’t mean to wake you up.
No, you weren’t… I just couldn’t sleep… My mom and I don’t go out much, so when we do and I have to spend the night away from home, I always struggle to fall asleep…
Yeah I hear ya, I was the same way when I first started travelling first to college and then for wrestling… It took me a while, but even to this day, nothing feels as good as my bed.
Bray smiles, agreeing.
Well, why don’t you come sit here by the fire so you can get warmed up, and we can talk about whatever you want.
He sits on a log next to Xavier’s.
Who were you talking to earlier?
No one, I was just, monologuing….
What’s that?
Um, it’s just something we do in the wrestling business… I call it monologuing, most people in the business call it shooting.
Why?
Honestly? I have no idea… Maybe monologuing was too big of a word? Who knows.
Ah, who were you, uh, shooting at?
My next opponent, Tex Attwater.
I don’t know who that is.
Yeah, I didn’t know who he was before I was booked against him either…
Is he in the World series of Wrestling?
Nah, that end last year… He is in my new promotion, IIW.
The one from England?
Yup, that same one.
So you get to travel to Europe now?
I wish! Though I might every so often for like, big pay-per-views… but I, unknowingly, joined their US based brand, Combat. I guess I need to read the fine print more carefully, known what I’m saying?
No actually.
Ah don’t worry about it… The point is, instead of going to great cities in England and Europe, I get to go to shit holes like Mobile, Alabama.
You said the ‘s’ word…
I say a lot of words that begin with letters you shouldn’t say… but I’m a grown up, you just make sure you don’t go around repeating them, cool?
Shit.
Hey!
Okay, sorry, I won’t.
Now that’s a good lad.
I think being a potty mouth runs in the family, my mom is always cursing… I think I’m bound to be one too.
Well, all in due time, if you’re a good nephew, I’ll let you say one every now and then. Cool?
Shit yeah!
HEY!
Sorry!
Xavier gives him a friendly ‘smack’ upside the head and they both share a good laugh. It however gets cut short as they hear a tent being zipped open and shortly after, Bray’s mom/Xavier’s sister comes out, also wearing pajamas and a light sweater. She rubs her eyes as she takes a seat in the same log as her son’s. She playful ruffles his hair and he pulls way, annoyed.
You know, some of us are trying to sleep.
Sorry mom.
Yeah, we’re sorry. I normally sleep late and he couldn’t sleep either, so we were just here, uh, bonding.
Is that right? Your uncle here telling you good ol’ stories about him and your grandpa?
And just like that, the mood changes. Xavier stops smiling, looks at Cassandra with hurtful eyes as he opens his flask and drinks almost all the contents in it. He wipes his mouth and answers coldly.
Sorry, I don’t have any of those to offer.
He stands up.
Oh, right, I’m sorry, I just -
It’s fine, why don’t you fix him a snack while I go get some more wood.
There is clearly no need for more wood as the bonfire is plenty big, but clearly she hit a nerve. He walks over to his tent and grabs a flashlight as well as a hunting knife because ‘you just never know’ and then walks towards a nearby river, crossing a small wooden bridge and then disappearing into the forest. Bray looks at his mom with accusing eyes.
Way to go mom.
She returns his look with apologetic eyes and then shifts them towards the forest Xavier went into. While things have been going better lately with their relationship, to the point where he’s invited them to come camping with him for the weekend and getting them tickets for the show at the Civic Center so they can see him in action live. But back at that police station, when they first met, it didn’t go so well and clearly, she needs to thread carefully when bringing up their father.
Flashback
Xavier sits across from his newly found sister in that interrogation room and listens intently as she tells him about how she found out she was his sister.
He had been missing for months now, and the most time that ever went without me hearing from him was a couple of weeks. That’s when I decided to open a letter he told me to open only if he ever disappeared. At the time I thought it was funny, and though it should have been scary, I never took him seriously. But I respected his wishes and never opened it, until now… In it, he wrote about you… and he said that if I ever needed help, I could come to you. There was an old picture of you, and some of your info, but I never thought to seek you out. But when Braylon saw you on the World Series of Wrestling, I started to watch each episode and in there you talked about your relationship with him, what he tried to do to you, all those years… All those terrible things, and it’s like you were talking about a complete stranger because that didn’t sound anything like my father… He was there from the moment I was born to the moment I became a mother myself ... The man you described, the assassin? That couldn’t be him… Then in the closing episodes you revealed that he is dead, and at first, I broke down… I wanted to blame you, because I felt like somehow, you had something to do with his death… It’s hard not to think of it, I mean, after all he had done to you, you were right to want revenge… But then I was relieved you were innocent because that meant I could reach out, and maybe together we could find out who killed our beloved father.
Xavier holds a hand up…
I’m going to stop you right there. Beloved? After everything you saw you think I would love the man?
But he’s your father.
HE WAS NEVER MY FATHER!
He slams his fists on the table and that causes little Braylon to jump up scared. Cassandra looks at Xavier as if he was a mad man and then goes to check on Bray who is clearly shook. Xavier sits back on the chair and rubs his temple, clearly stressed.
Look I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare the kid, but if you saw my whole story then you know that he was never there for me. My mother raised me on her own, I finally met him when I was an adult and the only reason I met him was because he had track me down to kill me. He didn’t even know I existed but even when he did, he never tried to be a father… I was just a mission to him and even when he gave up on his mission and turned on his boss and went all noble, he was never a father to me… He disappeared, and when I finally heard from him again, it wasn’t even him, it was only to find out he was already dead. So I’m sorry, no, I won’t be helping you find whoever killed him because I don’t care. That chapter of my life is closed, I’ve moved on.
He stands up.
I’m not going to press any charges, I’ll tell the cops to let you go, but I am sorry you had to go through all this trouble. I’m glad the Scorpion was a good father to you and was probably even a good grandpa to junior over there… But he was nothing to me, NOTHING… Good luck sister…
She doesn’t say anything, but her face tells the story, she is in tears, hurting as she hugs her son who looks at Xavier with fear in his eyes. Xavier takes a deep breath, exhales and then without looking at them he says…
Good luck sister…
Sarcastically of course, just something that people say even if here it happens to fit. He goes to open the door but just then the kid rushes over and hugs him from behind.
Oh for fucks sake…
Got him.
Present time
It’s the day after and Xavier and his newly found family have packed all their camping gear and are ready to head out. Bray sits in the front of the rented pick-up truck with Xavier while Cassandra sits in the backseat reading a book. Bray is holding up Xavier’s iPhone, aiming at him, ready to take video.
Alright, you got to give me a count down before you hit record. Either do it with your fingers, or say…
I think I got it.
Alright then.
Bray holds up three fingers and counts him down, then hits the record button.
So I’ve noticed that Tex chooses to give me very little air time or attention… That’s cool man, like I said before, he seems to have a lot on his plate, so how could he possible give any time to the “new guy…” To the “youg man” who is actually almost ten years older than him… I mean he’s worried about the repercussions to what he did at the pay per view, and so many other things, and it seems that the best way that he knows how to deal with them is by drinking and letting someone else take the wheel… Look, I love booze myself, but I guess I don’t have a million voices in my head messing with me and while I love to drink, I don’t have a drinking problem. Well, unless I run out of booze, then we have a problem nah' mean? But if he remembers anything I have said, or if he pays attention to just one thing, I want it to be this… On Friday, I will beat him both physically, and mentally… I’m not just “someone” who is walking through his mind… I am someone that will stomp, kick, punch, and beat the living hell out of not just his head, but every damn part of his body.
Xavier winks at Bray and he stops recording.
Well, what do you think?
I think, I’m hungry. Can we get some food?
Cassandra snickers in the back and Xavier looks at her through the rearview mirror and can’t help but smile. A lot has happened between that first meeting and now, but she is growing on him… and so is Bray. He shoves him playfully.
That bad huh? Okay, let’s go get some food and then we’ll try again.
Bray agrees and Xavier turns on the truck, shifts gears and drives off.
