Fresh from his victory over Benz for the IIW Television title, Anthony Phoenix is shown backstage at KKND with his newly won title over his shoulder. He is still wearing his ring gear and grinning ear to ear. Phoenix walks past several IIW superstars who congratulate him.
He pauses briefly to receive their well wishes and then continues. Phoenix reaches the IIW.com interview area which has an IIW banner on the wall. He stands in front of it as he is approached by Michael Morrison who is holding a microphone in his hand.
MM: I am standing here with Anthony Phoenix who is fresh off his win over the former IIW Television champion. Congratulations.
Phoenix nods towards Morrison and the camera.
AP: Thanks.
Morrison nods back.
MM: Well tonight you proved just what you set out to do.
Phoenix nods again.
AP: Of course, was there any doubt?
Morrison goes to answer but Phoenix cuts him off.
AP: No don’t answer thar because I already know the answer. Of course, there was, wouldn’t be a Phoenix match without doubters. But once again, I went out there and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt just how great I am.
Morrison nods as well before he continues.
MM: Well Phoenix, you did have some help.
Phoenix smirks.
AP: Yeah and what? I have lived up to my moniker day in a day out. Don’t you know that controversy either follows me or I create some where there isn’t any. Benvetti should have known that. Instead he chose to ignore that and now he is on the outside looking in. I’d say I was worried about a fellow paison but hell no. In this business it’s kill or be killed and tonight I did the killing…albeit with some help. I mean I knew I would need something, some insurance to make sure I would win the day. I had no choice.
Phoenix shakes his head.
AP: But I do hear that Mitchell didn’t learn his lesson, when I defeated his boy; The Commander. He went booked Commander and some dude named Blade Alexander against my new friend Dan DiStoner and myself.
Morrison leans the microphone to his mouth.
MM: Speaking of that. Was all this the product of your private meeting earlier this week.
Phoenix doesn’t answer.
MM: I mean it was painfully obvious with the way you and he had the same mysterious help.
Phoenix sighs.
AP: All will be revealed in due time. I’ve just got one thing to say…
Phoenix grabs the microphone much to Morrison’s protest.
AP: It looks like Commander didn’t learn his lesson when I defeated him two weeks ago which led to me facing Benvetti for this…
Phoenix only pauses briefly to hold up the title.
AP: But I guess if he wants to go round two with me then so be it because we all know that it’ll end the same way it did the last time. You flat on the mat and me going for the 1…2...3. And as for Alexander, I have no beef with you but just because you’ve decided to join up with Commander and Mitchell, let’s just say that whatever happens to you is how do you call it…
Phoenix looks up as if he’s thinking of what to say when all along, he does. He finally looks down with an evil grin on his face.
AP: Collateral damage. Alexander, I want you to take a message back to your boys Mitchell and Commander: train up really well because if you don’t all your so-called plans will come to a brutal, climatic ending. Capsico? TICK…TOCK!
Phoenix starts to hand the microphone back as he remembers something else.
AP: Oh, you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to get…
Phoenix grabs the title off his shoulder.
AP: Benvetti’s er, Benz’s stink off MY title.
Phoenix hands the microphone back before walking off.

Bob Mitchell's office.
The hallway and entry of the office of Bob Mitchell is a buzz with activity. Today marks Bob's return to his own office after several recent violations that have resulted in a still being contended lawsuit. Bob: You make good and damned sure that this thing is double reinforced and the only keys are in my possession. Not Osh, not that idiot janitor, not even that Netflix interloper. MINE.
The door to the office is in the last stages of being replaced and the area is filled with excitement as not just Bob and the cameraman, but also the labourer installing the door, the locksmith putting the finishing touches on the door, The Commander, Blade Alexander, and even Larry Fishburg are all crowding around. Bob: It's not enough that I have to deal with a complete moron in Osh Vaughn, but now this Netflix interferer, Connor Briggs comes in to help bring stability to IIW and ends up swindling us into the Tag Title Tournament. Where was the justice when Osh Vaughn was having every relation he could find interfere in the Keys 2 Success match not just to help Russell Wayne perform the heist of the century, but also take out Blade Alexander and keep him from sure fire success?
As you could imagine, the locksmith has no idea, he just shrugs. Bob: Well isn't that just fine and dandy. Are you done yet?
Locksmith: Yeah, here's your keys, there's two of them.
Bob: Is this a fucking joke to you?
Locksmith: No it's just... It's just coincidence.
Bob gives them the sort of look that could kill, but instead they just gather their things and leave. The whole time Larry just stands there with the same stupid grin on his face he usually has holding his microphone. Bob: It's fine, I get it. You have a big Tag Team tournament coming up you want the team that's NEVER lost the titles in the first place in it, especially when they're the best damned wrestlers on the face of the planet and every time they're on the show ratings go up. The people demanded us in the tournament, and who are we to deny the people? So here we are, in the tag team tournament, but how do we proceed after KKND? How are we to rebound after we've been victims of violent robberies since before we even signed on to come back to IIW?
The Commander, with that big, violent, angry mug steps in front of the camera. Rage boils on the face that fills the screen. Commander: PHOENIX! PHOENIX! Boy, don’t kid yourself for a second. Only by the grace of God do you still breathe, much less hold a title that should be mine. Your big head has been noted. I don't send others to deliver my messages for me. I've got a message for you Phoenix. Come Mayhem, I'll deliver it first hand, a message of pain and agony. It's a receipt, Phoenix, one you owe on. The cost of gold is high, that Television Championship temporarily hanging on your shoulder costs a price boy. You didn't get lucky drawing us in the first round of the Tag Title Tournament, you drew a short straw. I'm not going to be your easy win boy, I gave all that up when I signed on with Bob. In case you didn't notice, but you don't seem to be good at paying attention. Fine. I'll remind you. I'm a bad thing looking for a place to happen Phoenix, and at Mayhem I'm happening to you.
Bob: You see Anthony Phoenix, this is exactly what happens to a guy of your stature when you try to reach above your station. You can't hang with The Commander and Blade Alexander, but it seems like the smallest taste of success has made you forget that. Don't forget the chip that The Commander lives with on his shoulder. You made it bigger when you lucked past him a couple weeks ago, but now you've gotten yourself one little belt and all of a sudden those ugly britches you're wearing are just a little tight. You're going in there against not just one but two unbeaten champions here in IIW. See my guys have never lost the World Tag Team Champions, a fact that you want to gloss over. Just like you're trying to gloss over this man here, Blade Alexander.
The Commander takes a step to the side, though the rage remains barely contained under the surface. Blade: Anthony Phoenix you may rise from the ashes like your namesake, but you must lose your very short memory each time. Bob Mitchell brought me into this company, not once but twice. I didn't just decided to join up, Bob found the greatest untapped talent in the world and brought it here to IIW and since you seem to have blinders on to the world I've never been pinned or submitted here in IIW. The Commander and I captured the Tag Team Titles and we were never beaten for them, but here we are in a tournament, forced to defend them like some common pairing like you and Dan DiStoner. RevX, not that anyone will remember either of you a week from now. You walked out of KKND together, it took both of you to take a singles title, so unless you've got a few more guys left in the back somewhere I don't like your chances at Mayhem. On your best day it would take four of you to even try to beat the two of us, but now you've got an angry Commander who's already embarrassed to have been beaten by a scrub like you along with all of us who have just a bit more than a little steam to blow off after getting screwed at KKND.
Bob: Make no mistake about it RevX or whatever stupid thing you want to call yourselves, it's not that we hate you, not at all. If it were up to us, we'd love to give you a Tag Title shot, hell we'd argue you deserve one after Phoenix managed to get past The Commander to have a shot at that little title he's got now, but that's not really the way life works is it? Now instead we're forced to defend our Tag Titles in a tournament just so Osh Vaughn can give us back the belts his nephew stole from us in the first place. Since you're not to good at following along I'll spell it out for you. As good as you like to think you are, it's not about you. You think you really matter in all this? You're just a pair of guys in our way. This is about Osh Vaughn being power hungry and putting my guys, the best tag team in the business, in some unwinnable position just to see us overcome the odds because the people will tune in and eat it up and he can line his pockets with money that belong in ours. Frankly I don't envy you your position. You've got to face two of the best when they're in less than a good mood. It's not just that you'd be outmatched on a normal day, it's that you have the extra uphill battle of fighting a pair of guys much better than you on their worst days, but it's worse than their worst days. It's the worst day after they've had things that they deserve, that they've earned, outright STOLEN from them. The Tag Team Titles should already be around their waists, but they aren't thanks to one little heist that's just happened to make me a ten percent owner of IIW. But that's not enough, notice something missing from the waist of The Commander? The International Title which he's never lost should be there too, but it's not thanks to Connor Briggs. Now we're jumping through hoops to prove we're every bit as good as we say, so give us a pass if we feel a bit raw about it, we've all been the victims of robbery lately, something it turns out you know all about.
Blade steps back in.
Blade: Collateral damage. I'm glad you brought it up, Anthony, because it suits you well. Not only haven't you bothered doing your homework on us at all, you have no idea what the situation you're stepping into is. While you're riding high on winning your little title, it's going to be short lived. You talked about The Commander giving me a message, but it's you and DiStoner that are going to be the ones sending the message to Osh Vaughn and everyone else in the Tag Team Tournament. Once we decimate you in the ring, we're going to tear you apart and make an example out of you. No one steals from us. You take what's ours and we'll destroy you and anyone that gets pushed in our way to get it back.
Bob steps in between The Commander and Blade Alexander, slapping them both on the back. Bob: Now that my office is ready again boys, let's get down to business, we've got some major things to discuss.
The trio steps into the office slamming the door with the bronze nameplate emblazoned with “Bob Mitchell” in black on it. The heavy metal clink of a deadbolt sliding into place can be heard before the camera pans to Larry Fishburg who never did get a word in still standing there, stupid grin on his face and microphone in hand.
Fade.

Scene opens to Dan DiStoner discussing a match with Legends of wrestling Podcast host Daniel Kaiser. The two men are passing a joint back and forth. Kaiser begins the podcast.
Kaiser: Ladies and Gentlemen. Welcome to the Legends of wrestling Podcast. I am your host Daniel Kaiser and tonight my guest is 4x NWA Heavyweight Champion Dan Distoner. This 2 part interview will delve into the career of one of the biggest names in our sport. Welcome Dan!!!
Distoner: Thanks. It's an honor to be invited on the show. Been watching for a few years. Let's get going.
Kaiser: Well. Let's start with the upcoming episode of Mayhem. You and Anthony Phoenix are slated to team up in the IIW Tag Title Tournament. Against Blade Alexander and The Commander. What are your thoughts on this match?
Distoner: To be honest with you. I could give a shit less about this tag team match. And I could really give two fucks about these two idiots Alexander and Commander that Phoenix and I face. They think they are gonna use me to make an example out of. They got another thing coming. I'm the IIW Legends Legends Champion. Phoenix is the Television Champion. We don't need the tag tem championship. To prove what we already know. We are the best. Because I only allow the best in Revolution X.
Kaiser: So Dan. Tell me. What was the moment in your life. That you knew. That you were going to be a wrestler?
Distoner: I can tell you the exact date man. Feburary 20th 1989. I was 8 years old. Sitting in my grandparents den watching Ric Flair and Ricky " The Dragon " Steamboat in a best of 3 falls match. One of the greatest matches in history.
Kaiser: I generally don't agree with all my guests. But that is a true statement. That's one of my favorites too.
Distoner: Yeah for me. My major influences in the business when I was a kid were names like Flair, Hogan and Piper. As a kid. I was a huge fan of DX. Of course I always was a fan of Taker too. I just hope when my career truly ends. People will speak my name with as much respect as they do for Taker.
Kaiser: I think everyone who has placed up the boots Hope's that one day.
Distoner: Well. Look at his career. 30+ years. That man is a legend.
Kaiser: Last week at KKND. You came out victorious against old rivals Jason Myers and The Extreme Icon Chino. What are your thoughts on that match?
Distoner: As much blood that flows out of Chino during any match he has. We should call him The Extreme Tampon.
Both men begin to laugh. While talking Distoner reaches down and pulls a bong up onto the table from down by his leg. Takes a long hit and chokes out a cloud of smoke.
Distoner: I will be straight with ya. Behinds the scenes. Greg is one of my best friends. We have traveled together. Split the price on motel suites. Been tag team partners, and fought each other all over the world. But when he sticks his nose where it don't belong. Case in point this deal with Myers. I can't restrain myself from cracking him upside the head with a chair. But honestly. He is like a brother to me.
Kaiser: I feel ya. I'm the youngest of three brothers myself. And at least once a week I wanna wrap a steel chair around my brother Joey's head. Its brotherly love.
Distoner: Exactly.
Kaiser: Well Dan. That's all the time we have for tonight. Next time. We will dig deeper into your career. Your start in NWA. The Early retirement and how you were able to make a triumphant return from deaths door to return to the ring.
The two make small talk and pass the bong back and forth as the camera fades out

Scene fades in with Daniel Kaiser and Dan Distoner back for round two of the In depth interview on the Legends of Wrestling Podcast.
Kaiser: Welcome back for round two of our interview with Dan Distoner. As we stated yesterday this is a two part interview. Getting inside the life and times of the original icon. So my first question today is. Tell us about your training and what led you to NWA.
Distoner: Well I started a little old actually. Most of these guys start training around 18 or 19. I was 25 and working 2 jobs when I met the man who helped change my life. Warren Daniel's. A tough as nails veteran. I got a job cleaning his gym. And one month when his cash got short. We cut a deal. And instead of cash. He started teaching me. I used to watch as Warren would twist these young kids into pretzels in the ring. But couldn't afford the price to train. So when I was given the opportunity to train in return for my pay. I jumped at it.
Kaiser: And your jump to NWA. Did that happen immediately?
Distoner: No no no no. Lord no. I was about 2 years into training when Warren told me that there was a few promotions that had an eye out for new talent. He brought a few scouts out to one of my matches and he worked out a deal with a guy named John Woosk. And his promotion TIA. Or The Insane Asylum. I think he led me there because Woosk lined his pockets. Or helped him pay the lease on the gym. Only problem was. Woosk never seemed to pay the talent on time.
Kaiser: Kinda like TNA a few years ago?
Distoner: Something like that. Anyways. I went to the Asylum in Detroit and best Ryan Omega for the championship and two months later. A new face arrived. Beat me for the championship on his first and only match there. And threw the belt in the garbage. Where honestly it belonged. At that moment. My career changed direction. I found out the new guy had signed a multi year deal with Johnny Diamond to join the New NWA. And was just taking bookings to kill time before he started. So I talked to Warren and he helped me break my contract with Woosk and put a word out to Mr Diamond. And I debuted at the NWA Return to Glory.
Kaiser: I vaguely remember that show. Fill our viewers in.
Distoner: Well. The first show was in Early 2008. And after the Battle Royale to crown NWA's first champion occurred. I came out to the ring. And spoiled the champs party. Not knowing it would shortly thereafter catapult my career straight to the top. Any guesses who that Championship was won by that first nite?
Kaiser: No clue man. You tell me.
Distoner: It sounds funny telling this story. But the man who changed the course of my career. Was the same man who trashed my TIA Championship. That man was Greg "Chino" Monto. Those first couple months. Greg and I waged war all over North America. Fighting over the NWA Heavyweight Championship in every match you can think of. There is where I met names like Jason Myers, Matt Robinson, Seifer Black. NWA was home for 6 years. Behind the scenes I made lifelong friendships. Honed my craft with some of the best to ever enter the ring. And then tragedy struck.
Kaiser: Tell the fans. More about the shooting. That shortened your in ring career.
Distoner: Well to understand the whole thing I gotta explain. After being in NWA for 6 years. I had accomplished everything I could. I was a 4x Heavyweight Champion. I was leader of Revolution X. My name was Legenday in the independent scene and was in talks with someone in Stamford Connecticut about moving my life up north. When Greg hired some new talent. And from the first day. There was this young punk who had a chip on his shoulder. Who just had it out for me. I mean if you breathed wrong in his direction. He would cry racism. I can't tell you how many times this guy got me in trouble with the board of directors of NWA. But the fines he cost me. Were in the hundred of thousands of dollars. That man was Nick William Ambrose. Or as he was trying to call himself at the time "Mr NWA". Trying to use his initials. To take my spot in a promotion that I helped build from the ground up.
Kaiser: very interesting story. Carry on.
Distoner: Anyways. Nick and I began feuding cause I was just tired as shit of the drama this punk brought around. And one night. During a ladder match. I knocked Ambrose off the ladder. And be got hung up in the ropes. Dude accused me of being reckless and trying to kill him. Which just wasn't the case.
A few months later. I faced off with this guy Lionheart. For the NWA International Championship. And after winning I took my belt with me back to the locker room area. And as I opened the door to the Joint Subcommittee locker room. I heard 3 pops. Those three pops were from a gun. At point blank range. Two bullets hit me in my shoulder. And one went thru my lung. Man I thought I was a goner. I was in a coma for a month. Having memories of those last moments of conciousness. And delusions that I was talking to God himself.
Kaiser: Damn. What an interesting story. Look man. I Have to say. The more we learn. The more I want to continue having you on the show. So let's extend this to one more show. Because my producer says the phones are ringing off the hook.
Distoner: Man that would be great.
Kaiser: Well come back tomorrow and we will pick up with your recovery and find out what led you to signing with IIW. Ladies and Gentlemen. I am Daniel Kaiser and this is Dan Distoner. Join us again tomorrow for more of this in-depth interview. On Legends of Wrestling

An undisclosed training facility somewhere.
Throughout the facility are The Commander, Melissa Mitchell and Blade Alexander all training. The Commander is in the far background running on a treadmill, Melissa Mitchell is on a weight machine working on her legs, and to the right behind Bob Mitchell is Blade Alexander, his body still littered with bruises and a few remaining welts, doing pull ups. Bob Mitchell: Did I hear right? Dan Distoner is already conceding defeat against The Establishment on Mayhem. Of course no one cares about a real title when you can just make one up, right Dan? Or maybe you'd rather go back to chasing any type of glory you actually had winning a title that's been dead for over 30 years. A lot of talk about the NWA coming from Dan Distoner and why not? He's has less than a snowball's chance in hell at beating my guys and everyone knows it.
You see ol' Dan runs with Rev X now and they're only winners, only problem is that he can't win when it means a damned thing in a place where it actually matters. His tag team partner Anthony Phoenix is the Television Champion, or IIW's version of a participation award. It's the lowest possible title you could win here in IIW and actually have it mean anything, and that leads us to Distoner and his “Legends” title? Did you just give that title to yourself Dan, or did you win it in a 64 man tournament in Rio? Cause the last time I checked you couldn't beat anyone that's ever been worth a damned here in IIW.
Oh sure, you did get the big win at KKND not too long ago but that wasn't exactly all on your own, but it did give you the chance to make up your own belt. See these men back there don't have to make up their title. Unlike Rev X “knowing” they're the best, those men have already proven it. They're the Tag Team Champions that have never lost the titles. The Commander over there is an International Champion that's never lost his title. You know what those are Dan? Those are real championships that are officially recognized right here in IIW, which makes them some of the most valuable and important ones in the whole world, so you can waste your breath going on pointless radio interviews telling the whole world how great and important your past is in somewhere that isn't IIW, but all you're doing is blowing hot air. I suggest a new approach, try saying something that matters for once.
Somewhere in the background Blade stops doing pullups and goes to the treadmill beside The Commander. Bob Mitchell: But that's not so easy for you is it Dan. You're the weak link, not just in your tag team, but in all of Rev X. At least Anthony Phoenix somehow managed to steal himself a win over The Commander, but even that took everything he had. Both of you were victorious at KKND sure, but it took help for both of you to win your matches, when it came down to it you couldn't win a measly match on your own. Meanwhile it took not one, not two, but seven men to prevent Blade Alexander from winning at KKND. Think about that for a moment and take a good look at him.
The camera zooms back to get a shot of Blade in the background running on the treadmill. He's covered in sweat, but he's also covered in deep purple bruises, the remains of being battered by tables, ladders, and chairs in an absolute war at KKND. Bob Mitchell: It took seven men just to keep him from climbing a ladder. The five men in the match and another extra two to full get the job done. Even after all that he's never been beaten. He's never been pinned in IIW. It's a run that began 4 years ago and still is going today. Who's going to stop it? You? I highly doubt it. You haven't got what it takes to keep Blade Alexander on the mat. And The Commander, well he's got a chip on his shoulder after losing to Phoenix just the once and he's more than a bit tired of being blamed for jumping Phoenix backstage before his Lockdown tournament match. I know everyone wants to put the blame on him, but that's the thing, we don't need to jump people from behind, we don't have any problems beating anybody face to face in the ring.
The camera returns to focusing on Bob Mitchell in his pastel orange suit with a dark red dress shirt. Bob Mitchell: We also don't need to make up our own titles to make ourselves feel better. We've got no problem facing everyone like you idiots, who claim to know you're the best when you've never been able to show it anywhere it counts. That's you in a nutshell Distoner. You've smoked so much you've burnt every last braincell you ever had. You've never beaten anyone of any meaning, had a match anyone remembers, you're a burnout never was who talks like a has been. You're worlds away from being the best. You discount the Tag Team Championships, because you know this is as close as you'll ever get. Face to face with the REAL champs in an opening round match in a tournament that's a formality to get our belts back. But don't let totally discourage you. I know you're still deluding yourself into thinking you matter, so feel free to act like this is a Tag Team Championship match, after all it's as close as you'll ever get and far better than you deserve. Stand across the ring from the REAL Tag Team Champions and get a look at what REAL champions in IIW look like.
You know we were already planning of making an example out of the two of you. A pair of self important wanna be winners who've never come close to tasting any real success that's ever mattered, but after what the pair of you seems to think passes for promotion the past week or so, we're still going to make an example out of you, we're just going to enjoy it more.
You THINK you're the best? Then it's one fucking SAD day for professional wrestling that the bar for the best has been lowered so low that some idiots like you even think you have a chance. Since neither one of you seems to be aware of your surroundings, let me enlighten you. This is IIW, boys. This is where the BEST come to compete for real championships and when you get them you can actually claim to be the best. Sing your own praises of elsewhere glory all you want and listen in amazement as it falls on def ears. Win the most worthless title in IIW all you want until one of those gentlemen back there decides to raise the bar and beat you for it and show you what a real champion looks like, but don't worry your little heads just yet. Phoenix your title isn't on the line just yet. Distoner, you don't even have a title, at least not one that means anything to anyone. This time it's OUR titles on the line, because unlike you OUR championships matter, that's why there was a list of people, including yourselves, that were chomping at the bit to get a shot. Pull that Tag Team Championships don't matter shit all you want, but we know by how desperate you were to pair up and take a run in this tournament that they do matter, and they matter to you. That's what it looks like to be strong champions that people want to compete against with titles that matter.
When you beat the best people will recognize you as the best. Lucky for us people already know we're the best so it wont make us look all that bad when we beat the two of you. While you might be the top of the ladder in your own minds, the rest of us have to live in the real world where you're the bottom rung, but that just means that people wont be too broken up when we beat you to a pulp on Mayhem to show everyone that we're still the best around here, and trust me boys it's a LONG way to the top.
Fade.

We fade in on the third and final part of the Legends of wrestling interview with Dan Distoner. Distoner and Kaiser are watching the promo from Commander, Bkade Alexander and Bob Mitchell.
Distoner: Ya know it's funny these assholes think I have conceded defeat against them on Mayhem. All I can say to that is. Revolution X doesnt need the IIW Tag Team Championships. Because soon we will all be draped in gold. Think of it. Me as legends champion. Phoenix with the TV Title. Deane is in the international Championship tournament and our newest member Riley will walk away as Women's Champion. So Bobby I could give two shits less about tag team gold. We are going to be The Gold Standard in IIW for years to come.
Kaiser: So Dan. Yesterday you told us about the night Nick Ambrose shot you and left you for dead. The fans want to hear about your recovery from life threatening injuries.
Distoner: So as I said yesterday. I was in a coma for a month. Having delusions of pleading with God. Anyways. I was fully aware of things going on around me. I heard medical professionals. I heard my friends and family. I could hear the tribute show the NWA put out. Because legitimately they did think I was dead. Wanting to be out there. To tell them and the fans. That I was alive. Anyways. One day the docs had convinced my family to pull the plug. To shut off the machines and let nature take its course. Now I have always been a fighter. The doctor pulled the plug. And a matter of moments later. My eyes came open. Standing around me were doctors and nurses. I saw my parents. My siblings and I saw my best friend Lynn. Who fans have got a glimpse of recently. I saw the people closest to me who kept urging me to keep fighting and come back to them. It was a very emotional moment for me.
Anyways. I found out later the bullet that struck my lung. Was still there. So I had to be careful what I did. About a week after I came to. I was released from the hospital but still needed round the clock care. From being laid up a month. The muscles in my legs had developed atrophy. And I had to learn the simple task of learning to walk again. So my dad searched around and found me a live in nurse. Months later. When I was able to take care of myself. I was talking to my nurse and she told me some shocking news. I knew as a child. That my dad had a child from a later relationship. Turns out the nurse that he hired to take care of me. Was my long lost sister. That you now know as MJ.
All along once I was able to get around I had plans of one day getting back into the ring. But at the time. If that bullet had shifted. It could killed me. SO I ended up retiring from the business that I love so much. And began training MJ as well as others. For careers in sports entertainment. Figuring I could keep my legend alive thru others. At that time I also opened up my bar back home The Dollhouse. Did all the things I hadn't done in years. Like spend quality time reconnecting with my family. It's hard to do when you spend 300+ days on the road.
Kaiser: Wow. Just wow. What an amazing story. One filled with lots of adversity. Last question. What led you to this point in your life. What led you to sign with IIW?
Distoner: Ok. So about 2 years ago. I get this call from one of the specialists who took care of me over the years. Saying there was a form of microsurgery that would remove the bullet from my lung and be able to close the wound quick enough that it wouldn't deflate my lung and basically suffocate me to death. So I jump at the chance. Ya know. It was a hard life living with that thing in me. The easiest tasks making me winded after just minutes. I was ready to take my life back. So after I healed up. MJ and I hit the gym. And I started getting back in ring shape. I mean really I had became a shell of my old self. My 6 pack had become a keg. Got myself back in shape. And was ready to make a surprise return when Covid hit the world like a storm. So I delayed coming back. Until I recieved the call from Osh. Asking me if I was ready to compete for a chance at a world title shot in the IIW revival. So I signed on the dotted line. And the rest is history. Its simple. I'm back in this business to regain my life. I don't need the IIW Tag Championship to prove my worth. I don't need the fans. To buy my merchandise. The only thing I need. Is to be in that ring. Doing what I do best. Kicking ass and taking names. This upcoming Mayhem. I don't care if we win. I DON'T CARE IF WE LOSE. I am in that ring. To hurt people. Blade and Commander. You can shove them tag title belts up your ass for all I care. I'm back bitches. And I am badder than ever.
Kaiser: There we have it. An astonishing story. This is Dan Distoner and I am Daniel Kaiser. And this has been Legends of Wrestling.

Somewhere in the IIW arena. A backstage interview area. Lots of talents over the years have stood in front of this backdrop to cut an IIW promo, and now along with Michael Morrison who holds the trusted IIW branded microphone stands Bob Mitchell. Bob Mitchell: Did I hear right that Dan Distoner right, he says the Tag Team titles don't matter because his little group of morons are going to be draped in gold soon?
Michael Morrison: He did mention that in his radio interview over the past week.
Bob Mitchell: Maybe I'm getting older Mikey, but doesn't it make sense as a champion that the more gold you have the better? The more titles you have, the more money you make, the better, right?
Michael Morrison: That does make sense, yes.
Bob Mitchell: But none of that applies to Dan Distoner because he doesn't “need” the Tag Team Titles. He doesn't “need” the money. He doesn't need the prestige or the esteem that comes with being a champion in IIW, and why would he when you can just make up your own title? Why bother making more money because you're a champion who's actually earned your title when you can make one up and call yourself whatever you want and have no one pay you for it. Let me ask you this Michael, does the IIW Legends title appear on any actual list of IIW Championships.
Michael Morrison: Well no...
Bob Mitchell: And who did he beat for that title?
Michael Morrison: Well I think if you asked...
Bob Mitchell: No one, Michael, the real answer is no one because the Legends title isn't a real thing, it's just something Dan Distoner made up to make himself feel better about not having a championship. Of course when you made that belt up for yourself Dan you thought that would be a problem. You obviously know you're a weak link and that Anthony Phoenix isn't going to be much help or you would have a real championship like the Tag Team titles. But you thought you might be left out because you're counting on the other members of your group winning titles of their own, but don't worry about that, Danny. Your girl Riley isn't going to be winning any titles soon, not with my own daughter in the Woman’s Championship tournament. With back up like you her chances are about as good as yours in this match, gone before the bell rings.
And that brings us to the other fraud you want to install as champion in your little camp, Kevin Deane. The only way he's even got a chance in the International title tournament is thanks to the REAL champion, The Commander, not even being allowed in. Imagine if you actually had to compete to win your title, imagine if Anthony Phoenix had to win a tournament to get his TV title, we're only here to hang onto what we've already won and show that we're the best Tag Team, not just in IIW, but in all of wrestling today. If Osh Vaughn didn't have a personal vendetta to settle with us The Commander would be in there retaining his International title in that tournament too.
You know what that means Distoner? More money for US, more prestige for US, more championships for US, and less for losers like you. You want to make up some championship for yourself to make you feel good about never having anything that matters in this sport, but even when you're looking through the world with rose coloured glasses a piece of shit is still a piece of shit.
Michael Morrison: Harsh words for the self-proclaimed Legends champion.
Bob Mitchell: They're the softest words I can manage for the softest man in IIW, Michael. Dan Distoner mentioned something pretty interesting in that little interview of his.
Michael Morrison: What was that exactly?
Bob Mitchell: Somewhere near the end of a long winded rant about some company that's probably dead and buried along side his career, Distoner said he came back for a shot at the World Championship, but how exactly did that work out for him?
Michael Morrison: Well, he didn't win it.
Bob Mitchell: No he did not. The big lure that brought him back and he failed to do it. You know who else failed in that tournament?
Michael Morrison: Almost everyone that was in the tournament?
Bob Mitchell: Well yes, smart ass, but specifically his own partner Anthony Phoenix.
Michael Morrison: Yes, but Phoenix didn't so much fail as he never made it to the ring. He was attacked before he could make it and most people put that blame squarely on your man The Commander.
Bob Mitchell: The uncrowned International champion, The Commander, but it wasn't him. Now with this recent revelation that Dan Distoner doesn't care about wins and loses but only about hurting people, how does that work exactly?
Michael Morrison: I'm not sure I entirely follow...
Bob Mitchell: I know you've never been accused to arrive to a conclusion on time so I'll spell it out for you, Distoner comes back, by his own admittance, to compete in the Lockdown Invitational Tournament, a tournament that wasn't even for the World Title until I made it for the title by the way, and after he loses he makes up his own title and says he's about hurting people. Meanwhile he's teamed up with the ONE GUY who lost in the Lockdown tournament because he was hurt, and hurt by a mystery attacker no less.
Michael Morrison: Are you trying to insinuate that Dan Distoner may be the one behind Anthony Phoenix being attacked before his match in the Lockdown tournament?
Bob Mitchell: I'm not just SAYING it, Michael, I'm outright ACCUSING him of it. What better way for a loser like Dan Distoner to make himself feel better than attack the next weakest guy in the tournament and dish out some of that pain he thinks he's capable of? What better way to cover your tracks and absolve himself of guilt than by creating a little group with Anthony Phoenix and helping him win the only title he's capable of, the Television Championship.
But Dan Distoner just can't help himself. He's not just content with Anthony Phoenix losing the World Championship, but he couldn't suffer his own partner overshadowing him so he teams up with him in the Tag Title tournament just so he can make sure that Anthony Phoenix doesn't win. After all, people couldn't accuse Distoner of riding Phoenix's coat tails if they fail to win right? Phoenix is happy that he still has his little title and Distoner gets to think that everyone is equal with his little made up title.
Come Mayhem Dan Distoner claims he doesn't care about wins or losses, just about hurting people. Well rest easy then Dan, because you're going to get your wish. You're not going to win, but you are going to hurt someone, it's just not who you thought. The pair of you have to get into the ring with an angry pair of men looking to inflict a little pain of their own. The Commander was robbed of a shot at the Television Championship by Anthony Phoenix. Blade Alexander was robbed of a key to a shot at any title he wants by Russell Wayne, Jay Vaughn, and Zack Steele. The Commander was robbed of his International Championship by Osh Vaughn and Connor Brigs. Lately we've all been beaten, jumped, and robbed at every turn, but that's left us just meaner than when we started. Dan Distoner you take a good look at our bruises and think about the number of men it took to put them there. The Tag Team Championships mean nothing to you because they're already well out of your reach, thing is you should have told that to your tag partner. The only one you're going to hurt come Mayhem is him when you lose be it by pinfall, submission, count out, or disqualification it doesn't matter how but it's going to happen and you're going to be the man to let Anthony Phoenix down and cost him a title. Again. But with friends like you who needs enemies?
Michael Morrison: Well you heard it folks, strong accusations from Bob Mitchell about The Establishment's opponents for Mayhem in Revolution X, Anthony Phoenix and Dan Distoner. The tournament to crown IIW's World Tag Team Champions continues this Monday on Mayhem.

The screen goes snowy for a brief second before a Rev X logo flashes on the screen. A voice over is heard saying “The following promo is brought you by Rev X, where the revolution will definitely be televised”. The logo slowly fades out showing a sharply clad Anthony Phoenix with his IIW television title draped over his left shoulder. He is sitting on a chair in what looks like an IIW ring. The spotlight is on him as well. The scene is entirely in black and white. Phoenix stares confidently at the camera as he begins to speak.
AP: The drum beat of war is slowly becoming louder as Dan and myself prepare to take on the so-called tag champs. The same people that are crying foul over what they must do to reclaim the titles that some say they’ve never lost.
Phoenix stops briefly to smirk at the camera.
AP: I can’t hang? Is that what came out of your mouth Commander? This right here…
Phoenix pauses briefly as he holds up the IIW title belt.
AP: Proves otherwise. The only time that I “couldn’t hang” as you so eloquently term it, was when you took the cowards way and attacked me from behind. You, me and the entire IIW universe saw what happened when we faced off: I definitely “did hang” and come this Monday you and everyone will witness that I “can hang” again.
Phoenix pauses again to slightly chuckle to himself.
AP: And as for you, Alexander; mea culpa: I had forgotten that you have been with Mitchell and Commander for quite awhile but to be honest how much of a significance were you if I honestly couldn’t remember you from the last time…
Phoenix pauses and holds up his hand which he has formed in an “O”.
AP: Yeah, that’s right absolutely zero. Only holding the tag titles must mean that you can’t hang like your partner Commander said of me but who has a belt in his possession and who doesn’t?
Phoenix points at himself.
AP: And as for the tag titles and the possibility of winning throughout: that would be the proverbial cheery and nuts on an already delicious sundae. You see you don’t really need them, but it does make the sundae that much more scrumptious. What Distoner said was true, we really don’t need them but to me it would be nice to call myself Phoenix two belts.
Phoenix pauses again and looks up towards the ceiling as if he’s contemplating the idea.
AP: Bob, what’s going to be most pleasurable; is the fact that not only do I get to put on another wrestling clinic against Commander but I get to put the beatdown on not one but both you damn clients in the process.
Phoenix nods and chuckles.
AP: But Bob, now that I’ve got your attention…what is this I hear that you are now saying that The Commander was not the one that attacked me but it was Dan instead?
Phoenix’s face gets a little concerned.
AP: I find that funny because wasn’t it you that unceremoniously decided to interrupt my match for the TV title back in February to show the world it was The Commander that attacked me and put me out of the tournament. So, you’ll probably say it wasn’t you and the footage that was shown was somehow doctored when it was Commander’s ugly mug smack dab in the middle of the screen with yours truly lying on the floor.
The scene changes showing the recorded footage Bob Mitchell throwing The Commander under the bus at Mayhem.
AP: Nope, your attempt at sewing descension isn’t going to work, especially when you showed your hand on this issue prior. Nice try. And Commander I would suggest you having a long talk with your manager; he’s still writing checks that we honestly know you can’t cash.
Phoenix pauses to let out a loud guttural laugh, then abruptly a serious look washes over his face.
AP: The time for talking is over. Osh needed a team to take you two out and who better than Rev X? I mean you’re going to be facing two men that know how to goto war and come out on top in the end. Mitchell can you say the same of your clients?
The camera pans closer to Phoenix’s face.
AP: Only…time…will…tell.
Fade out to a snowy screen. Fade in with an hour glass.
AP: Tick...Tock!
Fade to black.
