His social media feed had been dry by choice and it would remain that way for the next few hours but people had went what he had learned was wild and kept asking why and when would he be making his return to which to himself he'd simply muttered the words soon, but first things first of course. The silence was broken by the sounds of feet, his own bouncing back and forth in a slow rhythm that was only loud enough like a whispering sound to coo a baby to sleep. The dreaded training but we all needed it didn't we. Life was after all, one big training session with hill after hill that pushed our limits and awoken our senses one by one as we needed them daily but as it became routine life and it's training only found itself hidden under a label of every day antics.
Some were slow, methodic and others were fast paced and gusty like a strong wind in a season of change. Either way his feel still moved and he still hated the fact that training for anything made you ache but that is not the important part, no the important part was his focus. Since returning to Intense International Wrestling his goal was one thing, he simply wanted what he had worked for, his shot. Not to be confused with how he had previous ones but this one seemed more his style. Maybe it was the small amount of maturity he had experienced in his movements here and there or maybe it was just simply the fact that when you got what you worked for, happiness and content became one and were no longer two strangers swimming in a pool of much bigger fish that wanted them speared straight between the eyes.
His concentration was broken by the knock on the door as his eyes raised in wonder, and even perhaps concern for he was not expecting company, no, not now because no one should be looking for him. Still the knock came but he ignored it as much as he could placing his mind back on his focus for now as the knock itself disappeared.
"Jesse and," he paused a second. He did not know much about Jesse but he was still going to train like he did and on the flip side the same applied to Crush as well honestly but high risk and high rewards seemed to go hand in hand always. "Crush," he said. He had known this name before but it would be a meeting of firsts where Maverick openly was coming after the title that was held so close to Crush's heart, no doubt as decorated and as lovely as ever, it would be such a joy to rip such a thing from the hands that held it tightly. "The task that lies ahead of me, it would not be easy if it were just one person standing in my way so the fact that it's two? Makes my task damn near impossible but even damn near impossible becomes possible you just have to find a way of how."
What that was he did not know, for how could he but that familiar knock came once again and truthfully he was not sure that it, the sound of the knock that kept breaking his concentration was not just a small figment of his imagination creeping up, becoming a louder sound because of the implications of this match. Could he silence the knock maybe, did he want to? Surely not but wants and needs always a different category with a lining that barely attaches them and that is the knock.
It came again, a gentle sound in the whisp and shake of the winds of his mind. The echoes normally that sounded like the crowd not changing his name as they wanted him go match after match in the ring but instead throwing a curse of boos and even a line of trash at him for the good one that people cheered for that had never been Maverick. Against the grain, but a natural star none the less, so knock knock because the door is only there for so long.
That caused the feet to stop as he paused, his mind still racing. He could feel it as the days were coming closer and excuse all of it but the crushing feeling of twists and turns that were starting to form like knots in his stomach. "Not going to happen I'm afraid for Crush and Jesse." Though he knew it took more than talking, but for now all he needed was sleep. As the next day rolled around he found that even he had a bit of a spring in his step, the knock also had seemed to subside and that was what he liked the most.
He tapped his phone looking over the schedule and shook his head at that therapist appointment. Nope he was not going to get trapped into that, so he decided he'd set up something else as he opened up his laptop and looked over his socials. "Yep still dead as a doornail but that's an easy fix," he said as he began to type.
Hi, mighty followers, small life update: IIW has an upcoming event that all of you should attend because ya boy will be in action! He liked to tease his fans with a simple act of telling them what was going on but never spill all the details. It was just another thng that he had picked up during his time away. Journaling had also became important but back to the topic at hand as he paused.
The sounds of the knock seemed to come again and he blinked it away for now again as he scrolled down at his schedule. "Hmm," he said as the wheels in his mind began to turn. "My ring experience though natural, it's, not it but I, I am rusty even as I have stood up here and trained I know that this match is against me." He liked it that way. "Not putting the horse before the cart and I also know that the two men who stand in the ring with me will think I am just someone trying to get a little shine, that's not me. My shine is always on but my goals well to be honest with the lot of you my goals always seem just in distance but never quite captured.
Still, even as he thought about it he could feel the quickened pace of his heart and the small beads of sweat as the thoughts began to become more than just a whisper and even become more than a slight knock that he was not sure if it were real or just a figment. He had to take a few minutes to take in his breath and relax himself because thinking about it now, this triple threat high risk and reward match was physically starting to show and though people sweat for him this was not something he was used to. He carefully stood up, took in another breath and closed his eyes. Destiny, he did not believe in that either but he knew you had to give it your all no matter what.
"What do you want to accomplish? Where will you stand?"
His thoughts were still getting louder even now days later and yet the answers still seemed as silent as ever but he had finally decided to pull it together. All the training and the sweat of all that he had worked for seemed to reside in sweaty residue under his fingers as he looked over to update his status socially. "They are going to flood me with questions and flock to me like birds," it was a good feeling but still. "I'll get back to it later."
He had came that close to letting the temptation of the buzz of social and how much he missed it drive him away from his goal even now but then he knew he had to give his all. He did not train and barely get anywhere at the end of the day to look back and know that you had brought that on yourself and liked that. So onward and upward still.
"How do you plan to accomplish it?"
Uphill was the hardest, standing on the hill that was a task that he felt was far more feasable and then of course sliding down was the fun part but his match, his line of things to accomplish in IIW after this? It was always going to be uphill but he did not mind that because when you climed up hills no matter how many times you paused to take your breaths you knew that you were finding strengths. The ring was his hill and Crush and Jesse were just ants on that hill that he knew he had to squish underneath his boots, a tough job that he was ready for.
