[The scene opens to the "Manchester Central" coffee shop, where an equable Kaitlyn, attired in a black t-shirt, denim jeans and jet black leather cowboy boots is sitting atop the cold steel chair, and in front of an oak table. Waiting for someone, or an appointment it appears, as she glances down at her phone. Casting a glance to her left, then to her right, she sighs gently as she leans back in the chair. Slightly elevating the front legs into the air as she does, causing her to sharply lean forward so that she doesn't fall off and embarrass herself. Though if Kasey were here, he would have probably laughed if she had fallen off the chair. Or maybe grabbed her wrists and pulled her back up. She looks back down at her phone, swiping her finger across the screen as she sees a notification pop up, telling her that she has a message from someone listed in her contracts as "Sean". Reading it, her face contorts into a satisfied expression as she glances back down the street, noticing a man who looks to be about four or five years older than her wandering in her direction. Attired in a snow white top, denim jeans and black/royal blue "Adidas" sneakers, a white paper cup with a plastic lid in his left hand. Rising to her feet, Kaitlyn greets the man with an amiable hug. One that he reciprocates.]
Hey. Been a while.
Too long. [He pauses.] I think we last caught up when your Dad was competing for the MXW.
[She nods.] Yeah. [She states, before giving him an excited look[ But we can meet up a lot more now.
[He smiles, curious to know what she means.]
How so?
I signed a contract with IIW.
[Sean laughs. He remembers the discussions they would have about wrestling. The hours Kaitlyn would talk about how one day, it would be her in the ring. Either on her own or alongside her father.]
Congratulations. [He remarks, taking another sip from his cup.]
Thank you. [She sighs, remembering something.] There is something else I wanted to ask you, though.
[He smirks, having realized that.] Figured.
[She steps back two steps, maintaining eye contact as he continues drinking the contents of his cup, staring just as firmly into her eyes as she is into his.]
Well? [He inquires, breaking the icy silence and tension that has begun to manifest itself.]
So, I was wondering... [She responds, reaching behind her back and placing her right hand atop her phone.] If Kasey and I could rent your car?
Why? [He asks.]
Kasey needs to drive down to London for an IIW promotional event next Wednesday and our rental is going in for repairs. [She playfully pouts.] So, we need a car to travel down there.
[Sean looks at her. A relaxed expression across his face.] Okay. [He smiles.] Just make sure not to crash the car, please.
[She laughs gently, remembering the time she accidentally crashed his car trying to reverse out of his driveway.]
I promise I won't... [She quickly responds.]
[Sean smiles.] You remember where my house is, right?
[Kaitlyn nods.] Yeah. You still in the same house?
Yeah. [He remarks.] Still with mom and dad. At least for now.
Nice. I'll text you Tuesday night and let you know when we'll be there.
Alright. [He pauses, remembering something.] How is Kasey going?
He's good. [She says, as Sean smiles.]
Good to hear you're both doing good then.
Yeah. [Softly laughing to herself, she looks across at Sean.] He's been perfect for me.
[Sean goes to state something, but holds back. Realizing that now probably isn't the time to project any lingering jealousy. Or regret that he and Kaitlyn didn't work out, due to their distance apart or other reasoning. However, Kaitlyn notices his look and gently shakes her head.]
I didn't mean for it to be a shot at you. [She defensively remarks.]
I know. [He states, softly exhaling.] It just wasn't meant to be, between us.
[He then hesitates as he looks into Kaitlyn's eyes. Not wanting to leave her hanging, but also remembering that he promised someone he would be at a location soon.]
Sorry, I got to run now. [He calmly states, as Kaitlyn gives him a disappointed look.] Promised a friend I'd be at theirs at ten.
Aw. [She states.] Okay. I should probably be getting back to the hotel room myself. I told Kasey I'd only be out for twenty minutes.
[She laughs, as Sean gives her a gentle hug before breaking off and beginning to walk further down the sidewalk.]
See you Wednesday. [They say in unison.]
[They both then continue their walks in opposite directions. Carefully navigating their way through the crowd of people. Kaitlyn then turns her head over her right shoulder, endeavoring to catch a final glimpse of Sean, but failing to do so. Turning her head to face forward, she glances down at her phone. Dialing Kasey's number, then softly putting it to her ear.]
Babe, he said we could borrow his car. [She informs him.] So don't worry about calling a taxi.
[She smiles, before hanging up the phone and continuing her walk as the scene fades. At least knowing she can now tick having found transport for the promotional event off her mental list.]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Kaitlyn sits alone, attired in the same clothing as earlier, except for a black leather jacket and simply gazing around the park. As if she is waiting for somebody, but at the same time, using this as an avenue to decompress. Release all the stress that has been bubbling inside of her. Continuing to stare blankly around the park, she barely pays any attention to the children who are roaming around. Partaking in various activities that are inconsequential to her. Sighing, she pulls out her phone from the left pocket of her jeans, glancing at it to check if anyone has messaged her recently. More specifically, if Kasey had messaged her. He is presently driving Marcus to the airport, his brief, three day stint in Manchester down. Kaitlyn would have been there with them, but insisted on staying behind so that she could manage a few things, including her meeting with Sean at the coffee shop. He hasn't. Wiggling slightly, she glances back upward. Whoever it is she is waiting for, is still yet to arrive.]
I thought I told him to be here by two. [She states, slightly frustrated.]
[Children continue to walk past her, enjoying the sights and sounds of the park. Playing with their friends or alone as she softly smiles. Not really paying too much attention to them, but rather, following them with her eyes. Remembering when she had played with her father and brothers in the park back home in Atlanta. Primarily football, where she would give as good as she good, when it came to tackling her brothers. Her father would always be the QB during their miniature games too. Gently sighing to herself, she returns her focus to figuring out just where this person could be. Even scrolling through her phone to find his name, and ask him where he could be. As it was him who promised that he would be there on time. Though she stops when she sees a male in his mid-thirties, attired in a faded grey t-shirt, black tracksuit pants, and white "Nike" sneakers walking in her direction. An apologetic smile upon his face.]
Sorry I'm late. Got caught up in traffic. [He remarks.]
[She softly shoots him a smile of forgiveness, before motioning for him to sit down next to her.]
You wanted to talk, right? [He calmly inquires, vaguely remembering her saying something to that effect on the phone.]
More like 'ask you a favor'. [She responds gently, smiling as she peers into his eyes.] That's if you're up for it, of course.
[He nods affirmatively.] Okay.
[Extending her right hand, Kaitlyn softly places it atop the man's left hand. Ensuring that he isn't just saying okay because he feels obligated to, but because he is truly willing to do the favor. He slightly gulps, but nods a second time affirmatively. Attempting to reassure her and assuage any fears she might have of him only doing this to placate her.]
Okay... [She states gently.] Could you get me the number of Cassandra Doyle?
[The man looks at her, his facial expression showing that he has seen a ghost.]
You mean, my sister? [He weakly questions.]
[Kaitlyn nods.] Yes, Daniel. Your sister.
How... How did you... How did you find out? [He manages to stammer. He didn't remember giving her that information when he gave her his number the other night at the club.]
[Kaitlyn simply gives him an innocent smile, masking the fact that she had done a google search on Cassandra the following morning; connected the dots.]
That isn't important, [She remarks flatly.]
Why do you need her number? [He asks, just as flatly.]
[Kaitlyn smiles gently, lifting up her left hand.]
That's not something I can divulge. [She softly exhales.] So, can you?
[Not knowing how else to respond, Daniel inhales. Extracting his phone from his pocket and scrolling through his contacts until he reaches her name. Handing the phone to Kaitlyn, she uses her free hand to grab her own phone, open up her own contracts list so that she can put the number in before she hands it back to him. Cheekily smiling as she does.]
Thanks. [She remarks.]
[She then turns away, preparing to leave the park and head back to the hotel, but is stopped by Daniel.]
Did you just use me to get my sister's number? [He sternly asks, attempting to put Kaitlyn on the spot. Figure out her true intentions behind seeking his number in the first place.]
No. No. [She states, smirking at him.[ That was just a bonus. [She comments softly, her face emitting a warm smile.]
[Satisfied with that answer, Daniel allows her to continue on her walk. Though by the curious expression on his face, he does wonder if that was her means of manipulating him. Of assuaging his fears, so that he doesn't dig deeper into her motivations. After all, why ask him for her number in person and not simply through text? Kaitlyn simply smiles to herself, having gotten exactly what she wanted from Daniel, without needing to resort to begging him. She then softly smiles to herself as she glances down at the phone. Ensuring that Daniel didn't trick her; legitimately put Cassandra's number in. Laughing softly as she hovers her fingers over the call button. Tempted to make the call, but also not wanting to potentially interrupt Cass during her day. Especially when she works as a fitness instructor. The scene fades as she puts the phone back into her pocket.]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[The sun sets in the sky above, as Kaitlyn looks up, while laying atop a hot pink and white striped chair, at the side of the hotel's pool. Attired in a white halter top with pink trimming and black leggings. A gentle sigh leaving her lips as she continues staring up.]
Everything is slowly taking shape. [She states.] It is all falling into place.
[She smiles, stretching her arms above her head as she absorbs the sun's rays. Not caring about anything else but enjoying this relaxation.]
You see, while to some... I may just be another face. Another name in the crowd, if you know me... you'd know I have excelled at everything I have done. Wrestling, Cheerleading, even basketball. I don't settle for anything else but being the best.
[She laughs, as she reclines back further. So that the chair is almost pressed against the concrete beneath her.]
After all, if you're not the best, or aiming to be, then why are you even here? On planet earth? In wrestling? It's something that I know Kasey understands more than anything. [She gently laughs.] It's something the rest of you are going to learn soon enough.
[She slides her feet off the chair, sitting up.]
None of you will be able to match up to me. Whether it be in that ring or in life, so I would just get used to it in advance. All I need is an opportunity and I will turn it into gold. I am the name you all need to learn soon enough.
[She blows a mocking kiss to a male who has just entered the pool area in his swimming gear, before smiling.]
Ciao.
[The scene fades as she begins to stand up; walk away from the chair. Smiling and knowing that soon, people will have to accept that she is the truth.]
Hey. Been a while.
